Using FASW: left over FA in product?

Migrated topic.

So, lets say one were using Fumaric Acid Saturated Water (FASW) to do an extraction on his or her spice-containing nonpolar solvent. Let's say he/she added more than enough fumaric acid to convert all the DMT freebase to DMT fumarate. Wouldn't the resulting product, once collected, be slightly impure? (I.e. have some leftover fumaric acid in it)

Follow-up question: Wouldn't the exact same be true if citric acid were used? (what I am trying to get at is whether citric acid is just as good as fumaric for extractions, or whether fumaric acid somehow gives a more pure final product)

They both work the same except that citric acid is more water soluble and is also gooey.

Fumaric acid is water soluble enough and is solid at room temperature.

Other than that its all good I think.

what you can do..is use a small amount of water to absorb the dmt fumarate..and only a VERY small amount of fumaric acid..you can then evaporate this water to get a nice crystalline(fairly pure) dmt fumarate...ive never done a dmt fumarate rextal...and its always been very potent..

I used 10 mL to dissolve 2g fumarate.

Resultant mixture was evaporated in a food dehydrator. I have been left with an amber colored, glassy looking layer in the bottom of my collection container.
