Vachellia schaffneri, the twisted acacia or Schaffner's acacia

ResearchDreamer

George Terosa research in dream
Public known is that that this chemical compounds are found in Vachellia schaffneri:
PMC - Link to Vachellia schaffneri

V. schaffneri (S.Watson) Seigler and Ebinger (syn. A. schaffneri)
Claiming β-methyl-phenethylamine, phenethylamine *, (amphetamines? and mescaline?), but no primary source identified

Now the Quest where in the plant (leaves, flowers, Bark) are which and how much of the components?
I can´t find explicit informations about it, maybe anybody know more and can help out.

Nope - amphetamine is a portmanteau acronym for alpha methyl phenyl ethyl amine. Phenethylamine is its own compound, mescaline is a derivative of phenethylamine [PEA] in that it shares the same skeleton but has three methoxy groups as substituents on the phenyl ring.

I don't think it would even make a viable precursor feedstock for mescaline biosynthesis in cacti, since that generally starts with hydroxylation of phenylalanine to tyrosine, and subsequently also to DOPA, before the decarboxylation step to tyramine and dopamine, and I'm fairly sure that in this case [i.e., in cacti] hydroxylation of PEA to tyramine (which is 4-hydroxyPEA) and dopamine (3,4 -dihydroxyPEA) wouldn't take place. I'd be delighted to be wrong here, however :D The scientific literature suggests I'm not:

(I'd love it if someone was able to get hold of a copy of that paper, btw!)

You will be right but there are still psychoactive compounds in there if we can believe the official sites so I think there is maybe potential in there but its difficult to find explicit informations about amount in which peaces of the plant

Which 'official sites'? As well, the term "psychoactive" can have a pretty broad application so, e.g., a mild sympathomimetic effect from β-methylPEA would come under that umbrella. Have you found some specific ethnopharmacological records of V. schaffneri usage?

I send to links on top which components are found but I dont know rn how much and in which parts thats why I ask here
