Vaped DMT causing passing out and puking.

I vaped DMT together with my wife and 2 out of 4 times she tried, she passed out and had a seizure with lots of puking right after. I'm thinking she just can't do this? It's very sad.

I wonder what the difference was the other 2 of 4 times? Sorry to hear about the disappointing experience

fishdeep,

If you did not make/create that vape yourself I encourage you to safely dispose of it. Who knows what's in there?

If you did extract the DMT yourself and then made the vape yourself I have never heard of such an extreme reaction. I vomited one time (out of countless uses) on a vaped dose. I have had the shakes on the comedown but I was not disoriented, I did not loose bladder control, so it was not a seizure. Probably just a reaction to the amazing intensity of the experience.

Again, if you made everything yourself then you know that it is DMT. In this case I would say err on the side of caution and your wife should cease all use. DMT does cause a momentary spike in heart rate and blood pressure. Perhaps your wife is lacking a certain . . . . vascular strength . . . .

Difficult to know what is going on here . . . .

Yeah it really sounds like there is likely some kind of contaminant. I haven't heard of any kind of reaction like this with pure DMT. Probably best to not continue using that vape.

I'm going to frame this as if I were guiding her.

They likely weren't seizures, but instead intense energetic discharges coming from the nervous system resetting. When on medicine, shaking, even profusely, if often a way of processing trauma of one kind or another.

That said, puking right after is appropriate, effectively purging what the shaking shook out.

She's not having just a psychedelic experience. She's having a medicine experience. This is actually a great opportunity for some deep healing and alignment work. Don't shy away from it, lean in, even when it's hard.

Side note on the shaking, I just landed myself, literally. And my experience entailed a whole lot of hard shaking that could easily look like a seizure.

One love

Thanks for answers. Yes it did not last for hours just some minutes. I didn't make it myself but when I use it I get the effect of DMT, and I've vaped up nearly the whole tank. She sometimes pass out from other things too, like high stress or of she bumps into something hard. She says she didn't feel any deep healing just heavy tripping and being very exhausted after. For meg i love DMT and find it very healing and refreshing. I meditate with it and feel deep love beyond word and concept.

Sometimes it’s just a pointless drug trip.

DMT like other 5-ht2a agonists can be an emetic. It’s part of the role of serotonin to trigger gut peristalsis, and yes I have personally seen people who cannot vape it without instantly running to the washroom. It’s not super common but definitely happens.

I don’t know anything about seizures.

If she is passing out and throwing up I would be cautious as that has obvious risks. I'd be curious how your partner responds to small doses of DMT with some very relaxing music or a singing bowl. Have they taken other psychedelics with similar results? Sometimes this stuff just isn't everyone's cup of tea though so it's good to make space for that possibility too.

My partner is already prone to nausea generally, and sometimes throws up on the comeup of LSD. Meanwhile I'm usually running to the bathroom a few times myself. And especially after a bit of DMT (or even before, just at the thought of DMT). Both seem somewhat related to what Jamie said but I also do feel more ready and cleansed/clear after emptying the bowels. I'm thankful I don't get the puking.

Everyone's physiology is different and for my partner it feels like the nausea is primarily related to the anxiety/energy involved in the work we do, and her body/mind not being integrated or relaxed.

That said, a few months ago she had a deep experience and seems to have cured her comeup nausea for the time being, and it all feels much more in tune 🙏. Definitely a complicated area with a lot of individual variation and ways to approach it.
