Vapohuasca & Changa – Harmalas? Looking for some guidance 🙏

Hey beautiful souls,

I wanted to reach out to the experienced ones here for some advice. I’ve made Julian Palmer’s 25% Changa blend, but now that I have Harmalas, pure Harmine, and THH, I’m wondering—would it be a good idea to add any of those to my Changa? Or maybe better to take them sublingually (under the tongue) before vaping?

How do you usually dose this kind of combination? And has anyone here tried Vapohuasca (Harmalas + DMT-vape)? I also have a 1:1 DMT cartridge and some Syrian Rue seeds if that might work better.

A little about me: I have quite a bit of experience with DMT via vape pen, sometimes daily, and I’ve dabbled a bit with Changa. In a few days, I’m planning a special night with a close friend (it’ll be their first time with DMT), dedicating the evening to the plant spirits, Hyperspace, and universal love. 💫
I’d be so grateful for your insights, advice, or any shared experiences!

Thank you all so much! 🙏💜

just tried sublingual harmalas for the first time recently, definitely like that administration more than smoking them on their own.
Changa has its advantages but it's hard to get an exact dosage.
Vaporhuasca is nice because you can get very dose specific and if you want a breakthrough you can definitely achieve that easily. I love changa don't get me wrong but if I have the blend wrong it's difficult to breakthrough on it.
Usually for vaporhuasca if smoking harmalas I like to do 20mg harmalas + 30mg spice 20mins after consuming harmalas (personally for me this combo will send me into a full blown breakthrough and is a bit intense). However that's definitely a breakthrough dosage for me so you gotta find what's right for you. Some people claim 30mg is to much for them on 20mg harmalas so id definitely experiment a bit to see what works for you.
I'm still trying to figure out the sublingual administration dosage for myself but I hear smoking and sublingual are similar in dosage so really just depends how you wanna consume them.
To each their own on harmala consumption but I prefer pure harmala alkaloids over rue, rue has a horrible taste i just can't get over. If you can extract your harmala alkaloids from the rue I highly recommend it, makes dosing so much easier.

I also don't recommend your friend do the vaporhuasca experience before trying DMT by itself first. I usually don't give my friends an MAOI combo until they've met the molecule by itself first. Vaporhuasca can be very intense if the dosage is right so definitely start small and find your dosage especially for somebody who's never met the Molecule before.

Interesting take. I just tried some enhanced leaf and changa within a few days of each other and it was my first time smoking changa. I tried my Enhanced leaf first (50mg DMT), Changa a few days later(25mg DMT), then enhanced leaf again a few days after that (25mg DMT).

Although the changa experience was only about half the amount of DMT as the first enhanced leaf experience, I did find it much smoother and more gentle on the come up. I was thinking about initiating a family member, but after my first enhanced leaf experience I thought “holy shit I can’t believe I thought about giving that experience to my family member. They’d never try a psychedelic again.”
After trying the Changa, I thought “well maybe I could initiate them with this” as it’s not as big of a slap in the face as pure DMT.
after that Changa experience, I tried the enhanced leaf again with a similar amount of DMT from my Changa journey and the DMT alone was still definitely more of a rocket ship. The Changa definitely lasted longer, but I feel like I could see my family member (who’s never taken any psychedelics) being more comfortable in that headspace and less afraid to try it again.

I personally feel like changa does have a smoother come up and is much easier to handle imo. But vaporhuasca or even a strong enough changa blend can be a very intense breakthrough experience. A harmala + DMT breakthrough has a specific kind of intensity that you just don't get with DMT alone. I've personally had most of my "near death experiences" with DMT from vaporhuasca or some of my past changa blends. It can be a very intense combo and that's why I usually introduce people to the breakthrough experience by just DMT itself.
Another thing to keep in mind is all the possible interactions MAOIs can have with a lot of common medications, unless my friend is comfortable with disclosing what medications they take to me I personally don't feel comfortable giving them an MAOI just for safety reasons.

@Cyanescen if you're going for a breakthrough dose with your family member, I'd recommend playing it safe and just starting with DMT. While the come-up is "smoother," that's really the only difference that favors changa first. However, if you launch them and they don't take it well, then keeping them in the space longer only does them a disservice. They may not like it at all. Harmalas are a medicine on their own, combining them for a rookie may be a bit much. There's also a higher likelihood of purging with the harmalas involved.

fair enough. I don’t know that I will hit them with a full breakthrough dose. I’m scared it will make them too fearful of trying mushrooms which is really where I want them to go. I’m requiring a full weekend of no plans for both of us though so I can be there with them to for pre-flight, trip sit and recovery day if they need me.
and before that happens, a full weekend of no plans for myself to try the mushrooms by myself first (I grew them a few years ago, I want to test their potency and efficacy before dosing them)
But DMT might be a possibility in the meantime

I'd say play it even safer and start them out with mushrooms. While a longer experience, it's still not the level of intensity that DMT is. You can also do a gradual process of stepping into the experience with them by providing and initial dose and depending on how they respond, provide a redose.

One love
