Vaporizing DMT

Migrated topic.

Is there any way to vaporize DMT, or tryptomine alkaloids from a plant? in a vaporizing device?

I was thinking that caapi may work.

If anyone knows, can you please tell me what the boiling points are in the dmt alkaloids in caapi?

Much thanks,
maxzar100

You cannot extract DMT from caapi. Caapi contains MAOIs, while Viridis and Cabrerana contain DMT (a tryptamine alkaloid). As far as smoking DMT containing plants, I'm pretty sure the general consensus is no, as you'd have to combust far too great an amount of vegetative matter in far too few hits over far too short a time period to experience any effects.

Ayahuasca is a great alternative if you're not interested or can't perform an extraction for whatever reason.

Oh my bad, I knew that about the caapi, I meant extract the maoi alkaloids from the caapi, like harmaline. Yes I have tried Ayuhausca, I want to make a smokeable dmt now I guess. If I made a smokeable freebase DMT, would I be able to vaporize it?

Any thoughts thanks

yea, you could use it in a vaporizer. I'm assuming the temperature setting should vary a little depending on purity, but there are definitely posts online from people who vape their spice.

DMT vap point ~80 degrees C [keep flame away from it],
Harmaline vap point ~236 degrees C

and yeah, do an extract first rather than try and smoke the material,
it's easier in the long run and better.

I got a vaporizer. Does the smell stick to the parts? or can i wash it away?

I would be affraid of ruining a vaporizer like the volcano or something with dmt smell..

I once used some mint/camphor essential oil in it because someone in my family was sick, and it caught the smell really badly.. I had to not only change the volcano baloon but also had to clean with warm alcohol all the parts for like a billion times before the smell came out. Specially rubber parts kept stinking of it... So only vaporize dmt in an electric vaporizer if you have spare parts for everything (like another loading chamber, valve, bag and rubbers/pieces/liquid pad, in the case of volcano) so that you can change and have one just for dmt.

Another thing is that Ive heard dmt quickly cools in the volcano bag so that it starts condensing, so one needs to inhale quickly or considerable amount of product would be lost (though I never tried it myself so cant say for sure, just read here in the forum). Maybe direct-deliver vaporizers that have a tube instead of a bag that fills up might be better in this sense, but still the problem of smell remains, only do it if you can change parts and have them spare.

The BC vaporiser works well for DMT,

We've found the best results have been from letting it heat up longer than you would for pot though [i.e. let it heat up ~10mins until the jar is also uncomfortably hot to touch].

This seems to help get all the DMT in the chamber quickly for inhalation in one breath before it has time to start condensing on the jar surface.

there are TONS of posts elsewhere on this forum with every vaporizer question you could think of. I have a vaporgenie pipe and actually used it last night, worked out great, but don't get to caught up with all of different smoking teks, it's as easy as an ash sandwich in any pipe pretty much.

Anyone has experience from vapir one?
Looking for a good vaporizer:roll:
I know some stuff about vaporizers. The vapir one is a bit of a POS. It'll work, but its completely unreliable, and any spice you vape in it will permanently change the smell of the vape (hard to clean).

I use a Purple-Days vaporizer for my spice. The bowl holds about 0.025-0.075g of weed (That is correct) and I've found it perfect for spice. I can fit about half the bowl with herbs and half with spice (about 30mg). All of it vaporizes in the first hit for the most part.
http://www.purple-days.com/ OR an alternative without a 10week waitlist http://www.aromazap.com/

The problem with the purple-days is that the smell stays in the wood and so it really is only suitable for either spice or weed (unless you don't mind the DMT taste mixed with whatever your vaping - personally it makes me sick).

If you want information on vaporizers, fuckcombustion.com is THE place to go. All knowledgeagble users with manufacturers posting and answering questions as well.

For pure spice, the vaporgenie and purple-days are probably the way to go. I'd avoid bag vapes (for some reason people have this idea that the only good vape is the Volcano which is simply not true at all). All the other vapes have far too big bowls. If you're vaping changa really anything goes.

Recommended Vaporizers for Spice:
VaporBrothers
Arizer Extreme or V-Tower
DaBuddah or Silver Surfer
Purple Days or AromaZap
Vaporgenies

This will only work for pure spice or changa (You cannot vape DMT containing plant matter as far as I'm aware).

Ok i see
I dont like smoke weed in a vaporizer so i just gonna have it for dmt anyway
But my spice is a bit yellow and i havent got that experienced to get real crystals yet so i guess i have to experiment with the machine for a while:)

Hello Everyone!

SWIM used the ash/spice/herb method first few times and it worked just fine, but he is interested in using his vaporwarez (vapordoc/vaporbrothers style) box. He is wondering if the machine's temperature dial goes low enough to vaporize rather than burn the spice? (He cannot find his manual so doesn't know if the low end of the temp range is < 175F or not...) Anyone on here with this info? I will check the link above as well...THANKS!

Edit: looks like the minimum temp for the element is 275F, so looks like a fast pull would be needed. He will experiment and see if it's easier than the ash/spice/herb-in-a-pipe method :)

Edit 2: Apparently SWIM gave up using the whip after getting several "too-small" tokes. He did not use a "brillo-pad" insert and maybe that would help, but he was worried about the varying temp coming from the element. SWIM also has a Volcano that's in for repairs and will be trying it out when it returns...(he has read of the taste issues but will buy separate pieces for spice-only use if needed...)
