vinegar bottle for a/b extraction vessle

Migrated topic.
IME, the lids of HDPE 2 bottles don't
seem to be made of the same HDPE plastic.

This kinda really sucks... btw, my example
Is an isopropyl alcohol bottle, the lid
melted in the presence of naphtha.

I use bottles like this. This one is 5000mL, its cap is made from
HDPE 2, and it even came with a PTFE sealing ring. I like to do a
long acid soak with 500+g of MHRB, then basify. After its been based
I'll split the mix in 2 at least. (It's hard to get in the big bottle to stir properly, and im not a believer in shaking) I've got a few other 1000-2000mL bottles
like this for smaller extractions.
Prices for these bottles are reasonable and available on Ebay.

As i do for all these vessel threads, I'll recommend that a cider jug/beer growler be used. They have universal metal caps that the plastic liner can be removed from, or they can be easily corked.

The narrow neck makes for good pulls. I've used masons, hdpe2, whiskey bottles etc but the reliability and ease of use has me scouring the recycling bins in my hood for them. Or buying cider on sale.

awe thank you guys, i like the growler idea i can pick those up easily. I would use my Erlenmeyer flask, but i have a similar issue of not having a plug for it. and the vacuume side connection.

Widgetco is great place to find a cork that is just the size of any bottle.

I got a few different ones from widgeco mistakenly the wrong size base off of online reviews. But the cork method worked great for me! Lasted through 6 separations before I started not trusting it anymore.
