First time poster ling time lurker. I wanted to get an overhead mixer for a while now, but couldn't belive how expensive they are..... so I made my own and have plans to make it more legit.

1 stainless steel straw
1 stainless steel fork
1 variable drill.(using a Dewalt from work for now till I can get a cheapo from harbor freight)

Plans for harbor freight drill:
Take it apart
Take motor and Chuck out
Get speed controller
Make stand for motor and Chuck
Hook up speed controller
Booooom over head stirrer

(If any 1 can tell me how to attach pics, I can show you what I made with a fork and straw) they both work great for cybs hybrid atb

Edit* figure out how to upload

Hey there, welcome. Great to see a bit of creativity going on in the form of repurposing domestic objects. I'm permanently on the lookout for things that can be pressed (or bent 😁 ) into action in the lab.

Here's hoping you'll put it to good use soon - and let us know! I'm also looking forward to the cheapo drill repurposing report. Nice work (y)
Hahaha it worked so great, the fork was waaaay to powerful so I might need to upgrade to a bigger glass container, the straw on my Dewalt worked amazing, ordered the parts today for a permanent overhead stirrer, once built and tested I'll repost with a parts list and little tutorial on how to make it!

Sounds like an RPM issue there, perhaps. What kind of pitch did you put on the vanes? And have you ever looked for a stainless steel paint-stirring paddle? I guess that's not really the DIY ethic, though.

I'm really looking forward to that pictorial now!

Hahaha yeah it was definitely rpm issue that's why I really need a speed controller and a cheapo harbor freight 120v drill. As soon as I get ir rigged up I'll update. It's basically a fork that I bent and rolled the handle to fit in thr chuck LOL.
