Was my product impure or does DMT really taste that bad?

I just smoked maybe 20-30mg and it left this horrible taste in my mouth, and even made my lip numb for a while. Does DMT make your lips numb?
 
Yep, some like the taste more than others - but it's definitely strange. Numbness of the lips and tongue is normal and doesn't last too long after the trip. At least that's what my friend tells me...
 
I hope this had left more than a horrible taste but also some nice CEV at least ;) Yes, numbness can be normal with DMT. It's a matter of smoking technic.
 
For some reason I wasn't expecting the numbness, thanks. It makes me feel better about what I may have smoked. I think I'm going to recrystallize it anyway, because my ceiling fan very sternly told me to do so...
 
I hear crystal clear spice leaves less numbing effects than the yellow stuff, but numbness is supposedly attributed to the alkaloids themselves and not excess lye. So that would mean it's the good stuff :D It's also fairly common for DMT to taste like death.

We smoked them in the car and (maaan i love that smell) i could smell it the whole way home. I thought 'geee that dmt really does linger hey'. we got home, out of the car, and i could still smell and taste it. I figure it actually leaves a fine film deposit on the inside of your throat and breathing pipes etc.. would explain the lingering smell + taste xeno, love that avatar :lol: 😉
 
first time smoking spice i thought what the hell is that horrid smell but now after a couple trips it quite enjoyable now i guess its an aquiered taste
 
After some more experimentation I have to agree that the white crystals leave much less numbness and bad taste in the mouth than the yellower ones. This also affected the tone of the trip- each time I tried the yellow crystals I had this sense that my ceiling fan was really pissed off at me for smoking an impure product, and so it was sending in all these jagged vibrations or something... The more pure product seemed to give a gentler trip. The skeptic in me says its just psychosomatic, but the experience tells me otherwise.
 
the purer white sparkly spice I've used has never tasted horrible unless there was a bit of yellow tone to it (few remaining impurities), but the vaporizer pipe has definitely burned the lips and caused numbness of the mouth oddly enough, when using salvia, I always felt like I was kicked in the mouth right after stopping inhaling

Yea it can make your lips go numb when using the lightbulb method, also different ways of vaporizing can produce this effect.
It feels like you just inhaled radioactive waste fumes, i can't smoke DMT like that, there's no way, it ruins the trip, cause all i do is thinking; "ghaaaa, this stuff burns, i want it to stop", so i can't enjoy the trip at all.
My extract was white as it can be, and still i have it.

I'm back to using the Bong-Screen-Ashes method, i don't have that problem anymore now.
 
call me strange but i personally LOVE the incense-like perfume of DMT! just a whiff makes me weak in the knees and the taste (for me) is almost all-consuming....by this i mean that when i smoke the spice (i personally don't mind some plant fats or yellow in my spice.....though the crystal clear medicine is beautiful too...) the fragrant sweetness literally permeates every pore, cell, atom of me....i BECOME that intoxicating odor. it's as much a part of the "personality" of spice as anything for me...

...sometimes when i'm home alone and haven't journeyed to hyperspace yet, i like to pull down my hurricane bong w/ glass hash bubble bowl and just smell it....seriously... :) the olfactory overload is usually enough to push me over the edge and away i go loading up the magic and leaping off into the everything...

i wish i could loan you guys my nose or something!! :D

ive only found it harsh if the spice was burned rather than brought just the the vap point. Also if your smoking device doesnt cool the smoke, that can make it pretty harsh too and it it touches your lips can give you the sensation of numbing (but your lips have actually been burnt a little)

Ive not noticed much difference bnetween the yellow or the white. Infact the last time i tried the yelllow i must have got it just right, i hardly notifced the smoke at all and thought i never got any, went to take another hit then all of a suden everthing ewent like psycadelic tetris.

I prefer a small bong. the water cools the smoke down and seems to remove some of the taste aswell. but as soon as you burn it, tastes foul and makes thick horrid tasting saliva build up in your mouth.
