After spending almost a week now locked away reserching. swim has 1 kilo of powdered MHRB
But after reading thread after thread, forum after forum i still am a little hesitaant as to which to use as a solvent ... im thinking of hexane in tetrosyl panal wipe. has any one used tetrosyl before? was it clean, did it yield well?
Also what is the best tek for powdered MHRB using Hexane, with measurments of everything:grin:
Many Thanks In Advance

Is it possible for regular peeps off the street to approach a lab/chemistry supplies company for solvent? I've seen quite a few online but I'm sure if one needs some kind of permit/company front to buy the stuff. Obviously it'll be the creme de la creme of solvents.

Reagent site looks promising, but minimum tub looks to be 2.5litres lol. Shame I'm not in the UK otherwise I'd order that badboy.

How do peeps here get their lab grade stuff? Anyone ordered from a chem supplier before?

ah Sorry Dude i thought you were, its an absolute ball ache to get naphtha over here... where are u from? what you think of tetrosyl panel wipe?

Not sure I'm qualified to give advice on this, but from what I can see from the msds the CAS number points to hexane  If you buy it I'd suggest you do an evap test on glass or clean mirror to see if it leaves behind any traces of oil or other stuff.

its not hard to get naphtha in the UK, just get some lighter fluid from the shop, swan is fine.

most of the ones I have used recently, (swan, ronsonal, bull brand) still evap clean and work just fine.

colemans is available from go outdoors and I think that also fine

I can't seem to find an msds for swan lighter fluid. Ive never used it but it must be fine. I just found out my local autoshop stocks tetrosyl panel wipe and its only £14 for 5 litres so i think i'll be trying that.

If you're using lighter fluid I would recommend Ronsonol.

DON'T use Newport would be my only suggestion (partial evap test I did left some kind of slight transparent grease on the pyrex dish, revealed by "finger smear" over evaporated area).

@cyb I would be interested to hear why Swan gets the edge over Ronsonol. As per other comments I have not seen an MSDS myself so not questioning your opinion as such, more than I am hoping for any potential clarification.

I found Ronsonol to be just great but I extracted with the slightly more expensive Swan and it a little 'clearer' 'lighter' and pull slightly cleaner spice.
Just an aesthetic difference maybe.
