What do you wish you had known when you first started smoking DMT?

Migrated topic.

Is there anything you have learnt from experience that you wish someone had shared with you from the beginning, or is the journey not the destination what really matters?

I wish I'd known more detail about the rapid progression of physical effects from vaping DMT. You take your first big hit and about 5 seconds in Time SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWS down. My initial response was to exhale at the first sign of effects, partly as a reflexive action, partly from apprehension, partly because that 5 seconds suddenly felt like 15 or 20. It is important to keep holding that hit or half will be wasted. Second attempt I held the hit, next thing happened was I thought my heart had stopped beating and there was an odd sense that the air had been sucked out of the room. Then a hot flash swept over me. Those effects were a bit alarming.

Those are the physical effects I wish I'd been aware of before I hit the pipe. The Psychedelic effects are not something you can really prepare for.

great question stan. i wish I had been more skilful in meditation, yoga, and knowing about and drinking teas like B Caapi (known as Ayahuasca vine) for protection and guidance and union before smoking DMT (or Lemon Balm, Mugwort, etc to name a few good plant spirits/teas.) They really work. When you drink B caapi before a trip, it helps; naturally, of course it does. I did not know, I thought it was a coincidence that the times I drank Aya and smoked enhanced lead or changa I saw Aya spirit manifest as a beautiful snake woman which imparts compassion, kindness, total knowledge, all love.

I wish I had known that it can not under any circumstances be used in a hurry or out of desire, excitement. It should always be a transcendental moment, deeply mindful always, at the perfect time/ set and setting, and to not diverge from the basic premise not once. In my oppinion, from 3pm to around sunset or 9pm is the best time to smoke. Then from around 4am to 6am (sunrise.)

I wish I had known that its better to smoke outside in the sun with plants and wilderness than it is in the bedroom, and that DMT smells terrible in a closed enclosure.

I wish I had known that joints of 200mg enhanced leaf (100mg DMT/100mg good fluffy herb) and some CBD cannabis (for taste and smell) with 30mg of harmalas on top spread throughout, with a good filter (ActiTube) is a very, very good deliviery method for a breathrough and should be smoked slowly and with reverence.

But more than anything, I wish I had known that I will never be able to have these experiences again, they are irrepetable, one of a kind, and should be cherished as such; having known this, I would have been more reverential, would have meditated more after each experience (would have used the experiences as an impulse into deep meditation and silence, would have basked in the silence for longer, would have basked in the alienness longer, because it ends and never comes back.)

I wish I knew I was burning it. And that 50g of mimosa did in fact contain more than 60mg of DMT. I'm sorry, mother Earth.

Changa! For frog's sake!

Why didn't anyone just sit me down and say "mate, skip all the nonsense and just make the changa".

Woulda saved me years of fiddling with meth toobs, weighing powders, buying expensive specialty pipes, experimenting with doses, teaching steep learning curves.

Seriously mates, just make the damn changa!

Are you serious? Is this a joke?

I use it recreational all the time. Of course it is desire and excitement.

I even smoke salvia pure recreational. Because it is so unbelievable fascinating.

And when I get something out of it, like insights into other realities, it is a bonus.

Smoking DMT or salvia on a recreational base does not at all mean being disrespectful towards the substances.

We all do it with our own intentions :).
