Take the plant rivea corymbosa for example; it's true latin name is turbina corymbosa but everyone knows what everyone mean by rivea corymbosa so it doesn't need any change. It's seeds of turbina corymbosa are called ololiuhqui in Nahuatl and means 'round thing', yet people use it for the whole plant, which in fact is called coaxihuitil which means 'snake-plant'. The words change in meaning as time flies by, and when we choose to use them determen what they will mean. As long as it does not occur any missunderstandings amongst theese designations it is no need to change them
