Which acid

Migrated topic.

SWIM would like to know, which acid would be best to use for A/B for a acacia plant with sodium hydroxide and shellite
The choices i have are
Nitric 60%, sulfuric, hydrochloric 33% and phosphuric 89% ( it think it that % , can give you an exact later if needed)
a prod in the right direction would be muchly appreciated

Definitely go for phosphoric acid, not because it is more efficient but because it is the least dangerous one from your lot. 89% phosphoric acid is way too concentrated, just a splash of it in the pot where the plant material will be boiled should be more than enough for one's pH issues.

What about food grade acetic acid (vinegar)? I'm sure you can get that there. It smells though. I just think its better to use something that is food grade and safe whenever possible.

Going off the topic slightly, but SWIM's FOAF is still wondering what is the thing with phosphoric acid that makes it so good at extracting. He has never really tried it in A/B extractions, but some people who brew aya swear by it.

Could it be that phosphoric acid when used in aya modifies the brew somehow to make it more potent/bioavailable?

There are no observations suggesting that phosphoric acid used in A/Bs extracts more spice that other acids.

If DMT phosphate is more water soluble than the other forms, it could very well extract more DMT in an A/B extraction. But who knows?

I don’t think anyone has done any tests on it other than ayahuasca users claiming it works better than any other acid for brewing ayahuasca.

It could be that DMT phosphate just absorbs faster when taken orally, and so ayahuasca users would notice its more potent. In general, the faster a drug absorbs, the more potent it is.

SWIM has food grade phosphoric acid, but never tried it for extracting DMT in an A/B tech. He just uses citric acid because it’s safer. If you spill it on yourself, no problem.

So far only positive things have been said about DMT phosphate.

It would be nice if someone could do two parallel extracts, one with citric acid and another with phosphoric acid and see if its better for extraction. You’d want to do a poor extraction which would exaggerate the results (i.e., only one boil and filter, not 3-5). And you’d want to use the same batch of powdered mimosa for both tests.

I use it for extractions (phosphoric that is). Truly though I haven't noticed a big difference in yields. I could probably shorten my cook time if it does pull alks quicker.

I have read that some people will add a bit of coke/pepsi to their brew and swear that it makes it stronger, so maybe it is an absportion thing.

I personally will never use phosphoric acid for brewing aya again. It doesn't evap so the end product is highly acidic and tastes even worse than normal aya (if that can be believed).

I have not found that to be the case. My brews after reduction are rarely below ph 4 when using phosphoric acid. Don't notice any taste from it either.

couldnt you use the percolator method..with warm acidic water..using phosphoric acid..and then basify with sodium carbonate..and then pull with solvent? no boiling or anything..and very simple
