Who, me?

Master Samwise

Rising Star
It’s been a long time coming for me. I first became interested in DMT over ten years ago and have since dedicated myself to learning as much as I can about it. Psychedelics have played a significant role in my life, with numerous health scares during my youth prompting me to learn the art of letting go.

I was fortunate to encounter psilocybin early in my journey, which sparked my interest in fungi, plants, and animals. My fascination with the Australian bush grew stronger after a near-death experience from an anaphylactic episode in 2019. Since then, I’ve taken a more hands-on approach, and growing plants from seed has been incredibly rewarding.

Looking ahead, I hope to contribute to the understanding of Victorian acacia species.

Here’s a photo of a seed-grown Longifolia that just recently flowered for the first time 😊

Thanks! The sooner you get them in the ground (circumstances permitting) the better. Starting plants from seed has been such a rewarding experience for me. Once they're a certain size, you'll have a great example to assist in identification too.
I'm not 100% sure it is longifolia, possibly maidenii as it was the plant with the most vigor out of the longifolia, maidenii, acuminata broad phylode and obtusifolia seed that were sowed. The flowers look wrong for obtusifolia and I don't have enough experience in the morphological differences in acuminata as it isn't local to my area, nor are the tips very acuminate. The presence of the basal gland leads me to think it's a longifolia or maidenii. But I'm certainly no expert. All the best on your journey

Hello, and a somewhat belated welcome! It's great to see another acacia grower here. Perhaps you've already seen our acacia cultivation thread? That's a good place for sharing tips about growing, as well as other progress and experience in acacia gardening.

There's also a main acacia identification thread which may prove to be of use to you.

You're not alone here in having gone through a number of medical emergencies and discovered mushrooms along the way, either :)
