Why doesn't EW double the vinegar and lye in his tek??

I couldn't find a 2L glass bottle, so I think I'll just settle for either a 1.5 L bottle or 1.75 L. I'm trying to understand the PH, so I can tweak the water content in EW's recipe to suit the container.

I understand naphtha has no effect on PH. But water does have an effect on PH, right?

So when I compare Cyb's 50g ACRB Salt tek and EW's 100g ACRB tek, the white vinegar (acid) and lye (base) are the same amount, when EW uses twice as much water. EW instead doubles the salt. I understand salt helps the DMT become more attracted to the naphtha, but I don't think it affects PH, right?

Anyway, he doubles the salt, but leaves the white vinegar (60ml) and lye (50g) the same as Cyb's 50g ACRB tek. But water-wise, 700ml (Cyb) vs 1950ml (EW)

Cyb 50g ACRB tek with 1000ml glass bottle
1) 50g ACRB
2) 60ml white vinegar + 200ml water
3) 40g salt + 100ml water
4) 50g lye + 200ml water (cold)

current liquid total volume: 560ml

4b) Top with additional 140ml water (total now 700ml) to 1000ml glass bottle

EW 100g ACRB tek with 2000ml HDPE2 plastic juice bottle
1) 100g ACRB
2) 60ml white vinegar + 500ml water
3) 80g salt + 400ml water
3b) Top with additional 600ml water
4) 50g lye + 300ml water

current liquid total volume: 1800ml

4b) Top with additional 100-150ml water (total now 1900-1950ml) to hit the neckline of the 2000ml plastic juice bottle

EW uses my tek and adds a mini A/B to clean the crystals further.

I over did the amount of acid/base needed so that newbies wouldn't have to worry about pH and how much vinegar to use. (it doesn't need much to achieve to correct pH)

Therefore his writeup uses more than enough acid.

( you can't 'overdo' the amount of acid or base....but you can 'underdo' it.... you need pH4 (or below) for the acid stage and pH11 (or above) for the alkaline stage.

You can always top up with water and it won't affect it enough to mess with the required pH levels.

1. I wanted to ask you about polarities. You mention in your Max ION tek, the "Max ION" refers to the water, right? You want to make the water as ionic as possible? That way the non-polar DMT will repel from the ionic water?

2. Also, I'm confused by the last paragraph of your Max ION tek, where you get into ionic strength.

You say that the goal is make the amine molecule reach -1. -1 ion will make it 100% non-polar, to my understanding.

But then you say that the amine molecule can also GAIN +1 but it won't matter because of the high PH. I'm confused by this statement. Why would it gain +1? I thought a high PH would keep the amine molecule at -1??

3. When does the amine molecule reach -1? Is it during the lye phase (basification?). That's where the PH goes up.

4. You boil 80g of salt in 200ml. Then you top 800ml on it after the salt dissolves. Is there a reason for "topping" the salt solution? Or does it not really matter? Like, can you boil 80g of salt in 400ml and then top with 600ml? The "topping" is just for the purpose of pulling naphtha at the narrow neck of the bottle, in other words...

You're thinking of iodized salt. Which is something completely different than ionization. Iodized salt is regular salt that has Iodine added to it.

You're thinking of iodized salt. Which is something completely different than ionization. Iodized salt is regular salt that has Iodine added to it.
