2 important questions and 1 irritating confession

okay so swim got himself some mhrb and did a test run - all he can say is wow
he used a small sample - like 6g or so to extract what must have been bout 60mg of yellow oil
he did normans tek - the first 2 pulls were freeze precipping and there were xtals in my jar - then he added the third pull which stuffed it all up - he made a small machine and tested it - he was 1mm away from a breakthru.

now for the questions : - swim read that by putting the mhrb in an acidic solution all the majic comes out into the water then it can be strained - what about on an stb, will some always stay in the bark ?

swim thinks that the third pull that stuffed it all up wasnt left to sit long enough for the lye to all drop out - is this why it was an oil - mhrb doesnt have a lot of nmt does it
he tried freeze precipping it and it didnt help - what went wrong ?

swim had a pile of oil just like what was extracted outta the mhrb but it was extracted from virola surinamensis - he harvested just the red sap himself - and this oil was chucked out as it was using his evap dish - damnit - it could have been great - guess he will have to get some more - btw this resin looks like the tree is bleeding and only a teaspoon or so was used - very high alkaloid content

There are no real differences in yield between STBs or A/Bs. The high pH of STBs will almost "melt" the bark to a paste-like consistency that will nicely blend with the rest of the basic solution (even though tough fibres will not be fully digested).

I do not really get the nmt thing. Why would that be an oil or why would MHRB contain loads of it? As far as lye turning spice to oil I doubt it, but it is a possibility. Still, I do not understand your phrasing very well, did SWIY freeze-precipitate the firs 2 pulls, then topped the freeze-precip. container with the third pull?

In that case, any spice crystals would dissolve in the additional naphtha and they would not precipitate out easily. DMT-N-Oxide which is a yellow oil that can form in situ within the naphtha pulls would precipitate out of naphtha very very easily (esp. in the freezer) due to its really poor solubility in it

yeah okay that helps thanks man - i meant dmt-n-oxide when i said nmt - and yeah it was freeze precipped then the third pull was added.
i think it was an oil caus the lye had not separated enough.

Ok, my guess is if this your first time you didn't wait long enough... how many times early on swim tossed what he thought was "nothing", a bad extraction, into the sink.... and a few days later under the spaghtetti remnants and mold-growing dirty dishes realizes, holly crap, the entire bottom of the container is dried totally and covered in crystals in an ultra-thin sheet (looks like spiderwebs) of wax (dmt).

Put it in front of a fan, and don't discard it until it is not wet, not sticky, but bone dry over it's entire surface, or in the case of success... covered in a thin waxy sheet. Buy several glass casserol containers to evap in so you are not tempted to just trash one to try again in case you get antsy.

Even with free precip, the crystal can appear to 'dissapear', don't despair. Let it dry.

They've given good advice. I'd just like to point out that "nmt" is not a good abbreviation for dmt n-oxide, since NMT already has it's own meaning in the world of tryptamines. NMT is the most common abbreviation for N-methyltryptamine.
