Hey nexus,

I've been looking into doing a bit of mescaline extraction and I was wondering what y'all have to say about 69ron's D-Limonene tek VS. LucidLemonade's Sunflower oil tek? I am aware that there is the whole adding water to lye safety issue in LucidLemonade's tek so lets brush that aside and get down to the nitty gritty. I know there are probably plenty of Mescaline teks out there but I liked these two because they don't use petrochem solvents, xylene in particular which I heard is most commonly used for mescaline extraction and I have come to know is particularly nasty. I was wondering if there is a difference between yields and which produces the better result in terms of purity or if they are about the same. I am leaning towards 69ron's tek because of its lack of lye but I want to know what ya'll think..

Thoughts?

1.Xylene/toulene
2.d-limo

I can't comment on Xylene or Tuolene but I did it with sunflower oil and d-limo.

D-limo is way more easier than sunflower oil, but sunflower oil does work. I get very steady results with the 69ron tek. Using Hcl instead of vinegar for the salting saves you from using the nasty chemical MEK. With Hcl you only deal with acetone and/or IPA (also nasty but imo less nasty :) )for the cleanup.
Of course if you don't want crystals you could salt with vinegar and be happy with the Goo. If you titrate perfectly with vinegar you still can get those pencil shavings acetate without cleaning with MEK, but that's not that easy.

Have fun, it's a very rewarding process and when using d-limo as a bonus your house will smell like very fresh oranges.

If you consider to use Hcl. BE SURE not to evaporate that shit in a rust free steel oven. I can tell you it'll not be rust free afterwards from my own experience. Use a coated pot and a electrical or gas powered stove outside for that.

69ron's tech is pretty easy and yield is pretty good, only downside is that limonene is rather expensive. I do not like the sunflower oil tek because of the possibility of bad emulsions and the oil turning into soap from base reaction. Plus the boiling lye seems extremely hazardous imho.

SWIM personally likes to simmmer cacti in water with a pinch of citric acid for 2 hrs, and do this 5 times. Then perform a standard acid base procedure on it using toluene, and salt out with hcl. Found is the easiest and cheapest method.

what kind of yield could I expect using the D-limonene extraction? Say using 100g of San Pedro powder?

cacti powder can be anywhere from 0-5%
so your yield can be anywhere between 0.000g- 5g

most likely your cacti powder will be 1% or less, thats said with the assumption you do not have run of the mill powder
