A 2026 sub-ohm e-cig setups guide for DMT e-juice vape

I'd like to inquire, for my friends who have virgin lungs, can one use Citrate salts, but keep the Wattage strictly low, or use TC and keep the temperature low, so one does not create the toxic byproducts? Or is having low watts/temps not the best foolproof workaround for preventing toxic citric pyrolysis products? Does the DMT Citrate overheat anyway even if one uses low watts? Thanks!
Hi !
You could add citric acid, indeed, or you could as well let them try first without. With power settings at the lower end anyway. If they struggle because of juice alkalinity (≠ from harshness due to scorching), there will still be time to switch to the citric acid option.
Overheating, whether we talk freebase or citrate, still would be harsh in the lungs, especially for smoke or aerosol virgin lungs. Overheated citric acid would add its own share of toxic by-products but this is probably not the main concern as you won't do it repeatedly for a long time. I think your lungs take more of a beating spending an afternoon in a big city breathing in urban pollution than from a temporary overheat from citric acid. The problem that should be focused on is the aerosol harshness and dialing properly the setup to avoid it.
With non-rebuildable coils, power/watts mode will be the only reliable and compatible mode. The TC mode requires specific metal/alloy to work with the dedicated TC mode. These metals/alloys are : titanium (TC-Ti), nickel (TC-Ni) and stainless steel (TC-SS). There are virtually no non-rebuildable TC compatible tanks and coils left on the market. The moderate hype for them was like 10 years ago. Nowadays, the only people who still use TC mode are those who use rebuildable RDA/RTA with SS316 coils. Overall, TC has never been a very reliable and consistent thing anyway.
What you could do is to let your virgin lungs friends try to inhale a neutral PG/VG base first, without DMT in it but in the same way as if there were some. Just to check if they are sensitive to PG or not, because for some people it can feel irritating. It's just a suggestion and it would be nice to have 2 tanks for that, if you only have one available, it might be more of a hassle for you than anything else.
The best strategy, IMO, would be to make a concentrated juice like 1g/2ml (if you plan to use the Zeus Sub-ohm with the 0.15 coil), so they can take shorter puffs, having decent effects while inhaling less PG/VG. All done at lower watts settings. That’s been my approach for a long time, and it works well: powerful effects, a gentle aerosol into the lungs, with no scorching of the wick or the DMT. Such juice concentration would be better with 70PG/30VG, 50PG/50VG would tend to recrystallize more or less quickly depending on room temperature.
Brand new coil is always best as starter for newcomers, especially if your coil has already seen frequent uses (or misuses). You might as well stack the odds in your favor to ensure a good experience for everyone.
Check the post I wrote this morning, you might find some additional insights :
Hello, here are a few pointers that I hope will help you :

👉 The ratio of your juice is a bit weak for a small 22mm sub-ohm tank like the Z Nano. For this type of tank (and even this specific one) I usually do 1g/2ml juice ratio. Your juice is currently 1g/3.3ml. 70PG/30VG is OK. 0.2Ω coil is OK too.
👉 Regarding the power setting : 15W is definitely too low. With the 0.2Ω coil, the optimal power would generally fall within the 22–26W range, depending on your juice strength, inhalation tension and duration, expected effects.
👉 Inhalation tension/pace : it is an important parameter for determining the coil heat and the density of the inhaled aerosol, and therefore the potency of effects. The more tense the inhalation, the milder the effects will be. Conversely, a slower, less tense inhalation will produce stronger effects.
👉 Inhalation time : with a rather weak juice like the one you currently have, a puff should be at very least 4-5 seconds, with slow/low tense inhalation so that you achieve satisfactory results. The puff in question should be held in the lungs for about ten seconds.
👉 The airflow ring located at the top of the tank might help to control the inhalation pace/aerosol density too. Constrained airflow will produce stronger effects (more heat -> denser aerosol) but will limit the possibility of achieving milder effects with a higher airflow.

There might be a learning curve to get desired effects depending on these parameters. It will get better and better with each attempt. The power setting will depend heavily on your inhalation habits. A more tense inhalation will require more power to produce decent effects while a less tense inhalation will require less power. It's up to you to find the right balance between juice concentration/ratios, power settings and inhalation pace, airflow constraint, without overheating/scorching the wick of the coil and the DMT, of course.
I tend to set the power so that a gentle draw produces effects without overheating the DMT. In the worst-case scenario, if someone with which I'm sharing the vape inhales too tensely, they won't get much of an effect, but at least they won't overheat the DMT. Conversely, if the power is set high to produce effects with a strong/tense draw, there is a risk of overheating the spice if someone accidentally inhales too gently.
If you encounter aerosol harshness in lungs, it's the sign of overheating. Adjust accordingly via power settings and/or inhalation tension.
I hope all this makes sense, I always struggle a bit to explain this point clearly.
