A friend attempted his first brew;

He used 1 teaspoon whole Syrian rue seeds and 2 tablespoons ground Acacia root bark. 3 - two hr washes for each ingredient, then filtered (coffee filters) and reduced to about 6 fluid ounces, each.

The rue was consumed first, then the Acacia about 15 minutes later.

About 45 minutes later, he noticed light headedness, mild nausea and vertigo. In another hr, he noticed normal noises/sounds seemed to be amplified and misplaced...gurgling stomach..then a purge (NOT vomiting) followed by two more in 15-20 minute intervals. The liquid looked the same coming out as it did going in. Felt cold, though the temp should have been comfortably warm.

He intends to try a second brew with the same ingredients/procedure, but with the following changes; will add lemon juice to each wash. will grind the rue seeds

personally, first time, id go for caapi vine and chacruna. erowid say caapi is a better teacher with a much smoother and more agreeable experience. and mhrb as an admixture is apparently for experiernced users, due to the fact dose can easily be overdone and i imagine its similar to acacia as quantities seem similar--tho don't quote me on that

id use a teaspoon of white vinegar as opposed to lemon juice, as the latter doesn't evap off. ive tried a few with lemon and it was just another thing for my stomach to tolerate.

if you do same again then grinding sounds good though i have zilch experience with rue; just what ive read. no doubt rue can be good else folk wouldn't do it i suppose but first time, brewing specifically, id go with cielo caapi plus chacruna...very hard to overdo, all things considered like food and meds and setting etc
