a neat bug

looking for the name? was found on my eggplant. adding it to my bug collection.

Hi elru, to me this looks like a type of leafhopper (family: Cicadellidae). No idea what species though I'm afraid! What size are we talking? They are a very numerous group of Hemipterans or 'true bugs', characterised by powerful jumping legs and piercing mouthparts for feedling on plant fluids. Great colours though...the diversity of form and colour among insects is pretty staggering.
