a rough way of taking some impurities from the spice?

Well once a time, SWIM put the spice in the middle of 6 layers of paper, and put it under pile of books. Days later he noticed that there was a lot of wet stuff on the paper layers and, in the middle, a clearer and drier spice.

Do you think this can be a rough way of taking some liquid impurities?

I'm guessing that the liquid was just plant oils/ fats. Recrystallization is another easy way to remove the oils. That sounds like it could be a more effecient way to remove oils because I think more spice would be lost through recrystallization than SWIY's method.

yes, sure.

Also there was yellow liquid in the paper.

EDIT: I found a pic of the papers, the spice is gone :)

SWIM thinks that if the solvent has not evaped at all yet, some spice can stay in the paper, so it's nice to have sure all the solvent is gone.
