Weird that you say the substance that you extracted smells like DMT, seems like only DMT has that smell. I could be wrong however.

:( it's been so long since I've been around spice I could even be wrong about that.. It didn't really smell like any chemicals/plastics I used (besides abit like NP maybe?) and it reminded me and my girlfriend straight away of dmt when I finally scrapped up the product.

Is this substance at all a good sign and I'm on the right track or is it just plant gunk that can come from any plant?
Btw I did not try this to smoke this properly, just a small amount of sticky stuff between leaf with no results besides what could of been a placebo of the pipe..
