Acacia Acuminata mediterran area

xa

Esteemed member
Hi to everyone,

It's possible to germinate seeds of Acacia Acuminata and then plant them in Mediterranean aerea on the hills, 600 mt, not sea side ? It's possible that can live there ? Where can grow better inside a forest (chestnut, oak, flowering ash,..) or in open space, gardens ?

Thanks

Should be fine with Mediterranean temps, just make sure it's in well drained, preferably sandy loam soil.

Keep the water up in hot summer temps, they grow in the open in arid terrain they don't need forest shading. But a bit of shade can help them when they are young and getting established in the hot summer days.

I grow them in a very cold micro climate in portugal (zone 8a). once they reach 1m, they are kind of safe, before they a bit more tender
I get frost to -8°C, and late frost until May.
I saw in the spring, and they spent their first year in the greenhouse. Then i put them in the ground the next spring, they have a whole growing season to establish.
They can take full sun; and need very little water once established (just be sure to water them for some weeks/month after planting). But they will grow much faster with more water :)

Thanks, i had to buy some seeds, my friend as a greenhouse, his job and it's more skilled than me, maybe he can germinate and griw fir one or to years.
