Achieving High Alkaloid Content DMT

OK. so lets say you didn't give a shit about how your end product looked, and all you were looking to achieve was DMT with as many of the alkaloids in it as possible. How in your opinion, would this best be achieved? Taking everything into consideration, from harvesting all the way to the end result.

Also interested to hear about how you made your best quality batches of DMT to date.

This would depend largely on the equipment and materials available, as well as the temperament and experience of the extractor.
All it really takes is understanding of the process involved. DMT salts are in bark, get them out [optional], freebase, isolate. Its why your highschool science teacher wanted you to stay awake, so you could properly make drugz

If I, personally, just wanted a potent full spectrum alkaloid bark extract without particular care about its appearance I would do something like the following:
Boil the available bark in a fair amount of water with up to 1/4 cup vinegar per litre for 4-6 hours. Second 4-6 hour boil with a tablespoon of vinegar per litre, let stand covered overnight. Third and fourth boil with a tablespoon of vinegar per litre, letting the fourth stand covered overnight. Combine filtered liquids and reduce to 1/4 the volume or less. Add lye with ample stirring until it turns black and produces a strong ammonia smell. Extract 3-4x with toluene or xylene. Extract the combined solvent with a relative minimum of dilute vinegar [to pH <5]. Cook some water off the vinegar. Base the vinegar with sodium carbonate to pH >11 [catuion: foam]. Extract a few times with toluene. Evaporate the toluene to yield psychedelic goo. Any goo that couldnt be scraped up could be dissolved in warm rubbing alcohol and soaked up with herb for smoking. Because of the second organic extraction the volume of toluene evaporated wont be huge. Because the second basing used sodium carbonate there will be no lye in even a sloppy product.

The good news: there exist no end-purity rating between the various teks because they are all good, hence people don't talk about "Their best quality batches". If you work rigorous and safe, then purity concern is truly unfounded.

Also, you seem to be under an impression that "DMT" is a name for a compound of different alkaloids. DMT is the alkaloid and yes, a rigorously followed TEK will result in a pure or nearly pure product.

The way it looks doesn't matter, DMT can be an oil, a waxy substance, crystals, or a combo. It can be red, yellow, white, clear. As long as you're careful with your procedure, you will have the goods.

Lethargicsuperhero, do you want as many alkaloids as possible (i.e. as full-spectrum an extract as possible), or maximum purity DMT?

Let me clarify. Yes I understand that DMT comes in many different forms. Lots of people on this forum like to have white fluffy crystals but I've noticed that many of the long term users prefer the goo. I've only ever used the white fluffy stuff myself. What I'm interested in trying though is the goo as I'm starting to hear a lot of people report that the pure stuff has an element that is missing to it. So to answer your question Jagube, yes it's a full spectrum extract I'm looking for.

A little off topic, but something SWIM has been wondering sort of came up in Elrik's response. SWIM is a newbie and mostly a low-tech guy, has made aya a few times and recently did his first extraction with chacruna.

SWIM has some chaliponga/chacruna derived tea from brewing aya. Could SWIM extract FB DMT from that? SWIM has read quite a few teks and gets the basic principles, but hasn't seen this particular question answered. Cheers!

Sure, right now you have DMT salts and planty stuff in your tea. You can concentrate the tea to a lower volume if needed, base it to a high pH, and extract it with your choice of solvent. It would be pretty much just like extracting DMT from a bark tea and you could use any teks that go through a tea stage starting at that spot.
A defat step might be more helpful than usual.

When you say "DMT salts are in bark", I assume you are referring to ACRB & MHRB but I think its important to point out here, especially when harvesting Australian Acacias, that in some species phyllodes can hold as much alkaloid content - if not more in some cases - than bark (dependant on seasonal and locational variability of course) and there is never any rationale for taking bark from a living tree, naturally fallen trees being one exception although the content will be predicated on the conditions (amount of rain, season, etc) when the tree fell over).

I have found that long slow simmers as opposed to vigorous boils work for acacia. pH down to 3 and up to 12.5. And keep solution in a cycle of hot (40-50 degrees C) water, let cool and repeat. Agitate when heat-cool bath is warm and do this over several days.
