Advice on the crystals

Hello, fellow researchers!

A friend has done his first STB extraction with n-Heptane (lab grade, >99%) and freeze-out, and crystals aren't pure white, but not yellow either - more of an ivory. Main question he asked me to pass is - they feel a bit oily. Zero smell or anything, but fingers feel oily if you rub crystals.

Can anyone experienced with Heptane particularly advise - is that safe to use at all? What to consider next time for a better purity?

If that photo is of your current crystals the brown bits may be bits of base soup, which you don’t want to inhale, you could do a re-crystallisation with warm Heptane and clean it up a little.
Though DMT does come in a range of colours that are perfectly good and safe.
