After basification does DMT float

I was wondering if after basification would the DMT freebase tend to rise to the top of your bark mixture?

I know if its density is lower than the solution it is in and being non-polar it should want to separate.

Just a thought. I am sure it would take some time to rise maybe over night if kept warm.

I was going to do an experiment and collect the top 1/3 and leave the bottom 2/3 and extract them separately to see if that was true to what degree would the difference be.

The reason I am posting beforehand is that I may not have been the first to think this and if someone has tried and knows that it is a pointless endeavor it would save me some grief.

Thanks to you all!

Alright then looks like it may be worth the time to see. Thanks arcologist for the quick response.

I swear half the fun is doing the extraction work. OK maybe 1/3 the fun but it is still a big part of it for me.

In a clear, solid free solution; yes, DMT will float to the top (as is evident when converting fumarate or doing a second A/B cleanup). In a solution laden with bark it's much less clean cut. Some of the precipitated alkaloids may be caught amongst the solids and trapped at the bottom of the muck. You could combat this by gently agitating the mixture through vibration after an initial period of settling.

Excellent Idea! I have just the thing too. The Air pump on my fish tank vibrates quite a bit (They even have air filled rubber feet to reduce the noise). So with a little duct tape engineering I should be able to achieve vibration with little effort.

Thanks for the input I will let y'all know how it turns out.
