Afterglow?

Migrated topic.

Is there an afterglow to using spice/changa? If so, how long does it last? I really like the aya afterglow, which can last for up to a week and half.
Thanks for your responses.

SWIM also gets the afterglow, from any breakthrough, but it seems deeper with changa. Then again, her whole relationship to hyperspace changed after learning from changa, so perhaps those lessons carry over when returning to freebase. We will experiment at some point and report back.

Edit: Of course, when I say "we," it simply refers to my role as her loving scribe. Be well.

Here is SWIM's personal experience:

No significant afterglow with straight spice. A couple of hours afterglow after changa. One day afterglow with aya and changa smoked after predosing with harmalas. Two days afterglow after aya.

I have an afterglow, the only psycadelic to give me one at that, everything else gives me a day hangover, but spice, or changa, and especially Aya give nice afterglows.

For me, freebase dmt will allow for about a week afterglow, sometimes less. Changa lasts a bit longer. Drinking a cup of 1/2 stregnth caapi will make the afterglow last a few weeks. Aya, for me, lasts a long, long time, especially when I'm drinking small doses of Caapi after the cerimony.

Caapi, mescaline, LSD and 2C-B are the only plants and substances I get an afterglow after. It usually last around 3 to 4 days. I never get a significant afterglow from DMT, psilocin or bufotenine, but I do when caapi is added to the mix. LSD and mescaline have the by far strongest and longer lasting afterglow, in my experience. This makes me think that the afterglow comes from action at the dopamine system. Does harmala-alkaloids act at the dopamine system?

This seems pretty varied.

For SWIM smoking straight spice gives an afterglow of 15-20 minutes
Smoking while inhibited by harmalas extends that to 30-50 minutes

For pharma SWIM gets an odd occurence. While after 2-3 hours of the peak of a pharma SWIM gets an amazing afterglow for another 2-4 hours.

The issue it seems for his is that his dreams are SO effected by harmalas that he can't sleep the next night (even the second and third night too), not getting a good night sleep can really make him feel sub-par the next day.

It seems that caapi has much much less of that effect than rue so it is likely caapi would have a better afterglow than rue, SWIM hasn't had a strong experience with it though.

I have a permanent afterglow from hyperspace. Knowing it is flowing through us at all times is enough to get the spine tingling and the mind racing. There is no turning back.

Depending on dosage for me.

Full immersion will last a few days to a week, anything else, a few hours.

There is that 1hour period though after I smoke changa that is just magical.

I get my longest lasting and strongest afterglow if I have a good dose of shrooms and then smoke some spice while peaking or just after peaking on the shrooms. The afterglow for me can last months. But the above the clouds feeling lasts at least 2-3 weeks. But if I smoke cannabis on that trip or on my way down I don't get any afterglow at all.

I only do this once or twice a year on average. Don't need more.

I've been vaporizing pure Spice+Syrian rue and now Changa approximately once a week for the past 9 months. The afterglow has been on and off, but it has basically continued this entire time. Especially when I'm in the sun or watching waves, I feel the elves chattering away. I also have many visual aftereffects that have continued to last for this time period; for example looking at the wall and seeing many eyes smiling back. It's like the Spice gods transfer themselves into the outer environment and smile back. I second the LSD and San Pedro afterglow comment; I get kickbacks from both of these despite the fact that it's been 5 months and 1 month respectively.

I'd be very interested if any of you know any more about the biochemistry involved here. I find the HPPD (Hallucination Persisting Perceptive Disorder) diagnosis to be a non-explanation, a sort of box psychiatrists put these phenomena into so they can imagine they've explained it away; in that way it's quite similar to the "schizophrenia" diagnosis/non-explanation.

mushrooms, DMT and ayahuasca...all wonderful afterglows that last days at least..without feeling zoned out or tired.

Mescaline for me is a cross between feeling tired and drained the next day, and still mildy buzzed..there is an afterglow, but I think it also has to do with the fact that the mescaline is still actaully effecting me.

Never done mescaline but LSD leaves me drained. Weird how differently it affects us. Well just another example of how different our biochemistry is. None of us has the same DNA.

Drinking pure caapi for a pharmahuasca trip can leave you with a warm afterglow for a few days. When I was using Celestial Sources 20X extract, I would trip on Saturday and the love of caapi would last all week long, sometimes coming in waves.
