Testing the aging VS not aging

-Harvested in February, before spring growth restart.
-6 nice columns of the same clone (trich pachanoi "Monad")

Each column was divided in 25cm chunks from top to bottom, and each chunk was marked in alternance : Age / not age. I was also attent that the head of the columns were age/not age in equal amount.

The not age part was immediatly uncored and dried.

The Age part was stored in a completly dark space for 2 months. Then uncored and dried.

A CIELO extraction was performed, side to side :

This correspond to +23% in the age cactus.

Comments : I lost a couple chunks in the AGED group because of rot, which might have slighly bias the sampling.
The NOT AGED powder congealed very quickly compare to the AGED one, and was therefor much harder to mix. This could have played a significant role in the efficiency of the extraction. This phenomenom has been observed before ; therefor, i would recommend to age before drying to keep a sandy texture during the extraction.

Thanks for doing the side by side. The more data we have the better! Out of curiosity did you do three columns with the tip 25cm section as aged and three columns the tip 25cm section as non aged?

One aspect that I'd love to test would be aging via ambient light versus dark. Who knows maybe the absence of light is moot or maybe it is a substantial contributor. I'd also love to do some testing to see if there is an aging sweet spot in terms of duration.

I have high hopes that some interesting observations can be gained from the CIELO calculator data.

yes, exactly, 3 tips were AGED, 3 were NOT AGED, to balance it out :)

The NOT AGED wasn't wetter ; for the same of water, consistency started pretty much the same ; but it congealed much faster ;maybe aging diminish the slime, and that could be an important contribution to the yield difference.

If anybody can replicate the results, that would be great!
