I was thinking about this lately and I am interested in your opinion on this.
Since I started with extractions 2 years ago I realized it's more than just "cooking" or "chemistry", something like art but not really ... then the right word came in: alchemy!
I heard that some alchemists did experiments like just boiling and cooling water many many times, meditating during the process. And it should have somehow change the water, but more importantly, the alchemist. The alchemical process was double sided and the transformation happened to both the alchemist and the substance.
Now I was thinking about doing extractions and making medicine. The connection with the plant, the consciousness and focus put into each step... it inevitably changed me a lot, not only because it's an exercise in patience and care. I feel it's more like all we do in life when we create - we take stuff/matter and by focusing our mind, we distill, concentrate, separate, heat, cool... and finally make realize our intent in matter.
This applies not just to DMT extraction, of course, each plant somehow teaches me more way before I ingest it. The process starts with the intent of doing the extraction. And each plant source has a different kind of teaching.
What are you perspectives on this kind of alchemy?
