In Loki's tek, he mentions using alcohol to preextract alkaloids out of large quantities of MHRB before doing an AB extraction. He claims it would take 5L of alcohol per kg MHRB. After extracting and evaporating the alcohol, a much smaller quantity will exist allowing an easier amount to work with and do you normal AB extraction. I've never really seen this practice elsewhere, and was wondering if it was valid. Has anyone tried it? I'm considering it, since denatured alcohol is pretty cheap and all the methanol would evaporate away too.

This might apply to when you need to defat huge bulk quantities of some plant stem or root..? and I wonder where the 'red-jungle-spice' would end up...?
