Am I missing something here?

Hey guys, after a disastrous STB with powdered MHRB that I ended up throwing away I'm having a go at my first A/B.

I'm just straining my first vinegar boil but straining seems to takes an age. I'm using a funnel and I've tried cloth and coffee filter paper. With both, the liquid only comes through a drop at a time.

Stirring it while its soaking through the cloth speeds it up very slightly.

Is this just how long it takes or am I being stupid and missing something really obvious here?

Yep I've seen that done....squeezed in a t shirt.

I tried folded toilet roll tissues and then rolled into a cylinder and stuffed into a funnel.
Took 2 hours...very clean filter...

Easiest way is to not strain. Pour off as much of your acidified mhrb liquid as you can without dumping the bulk of your actual mhrb with it. Let it sit for a while (refrigeration can help) and the particulate matter will fall to the bottom. Pour off the liquid into your collection jar/jug/flask/etc and add some more acidified water to the sludge that remains in order to return it to the bullk of your mhrb that needs further soakds.

After you have done your final soak and have poured off the liquid, take all of your remaining mhrb sludge (or portions of it) and wrap it up in an old t-shirt or some other cotton material and squeeze out the remaining liquid. Significantly less headache than filtering, imo. There's really no need to filter thoroughly at all...the high pH you will be aiming for to freebase the dmt will adequately dissolve any remaining particulates.

I'm curious about what went wrong with the STB that you tried?

STB is by far the easiest extraction i have ever come across. I've found it is almost impossible to mess up AND you can have deemster within a few hours of starting the process!

Add lye to water, let cool, add MHRB and mix, wait 30-60 minutes, add solvent, mix and let seperate 3-4 times and then pull the solvent and freezer precipitate.

-This is true. The only way I've had success while speeding up the process is to get a very fine wire strainer. I pour one pass through this and remove most of the solids. After some time particles will settle to the bottom of the mixture. At this point I put a coffee filter into the wire strainer and pour the mixture through again, using new filters as needed, into the final mixing jar. This gets most of the particulates out of the mix in my experience.

-If there is another 'disaster' do not throw anything out! Chances are there's a way to salvage your material.
