Anadenanthera colubrina, peregrina, macrocarpa. Which is best for extracting which substance?

Migrated topic.

a friend of mine was wondering which seeds yield which substance best. He has quite a big heap of each kind and would like to know what kind of substance he should be after when extracting from the different kinds of seeds.

peregrina seems best for 5-HO-DMT.. is that right?
what do the others contain?

According to 69ron Colubrina is best for Extracting Bufotenine . The Shops who offer Cebil and Yopo most often ship Colubrina , no matter what you choose.
If you get real peregrina , there should be a good amount of dmt in it.

According to Christian Raetsch, both Anadenanthera macrocarpa (Benth.) and Piptadenia macrocarpa are synonyms for A colubrina.

Vendors don't seem to know what they're talking about with regards to different species of Anadenanthera, so the fact that macrocarpa and colubrina are sold as different species doesn't necessarily mean anything. It's possible that they have A colubrina from two distinct geographic locales, and so they sell them under different names; in that case, it's even possible there might be some phenotypic difference between the two.

well, appart from ron´s claim, I have never read anything in the literature, in chemical analysis and so on, that dmt was found in A Peregrina either..

I always read that it also only has bufotenine and anything else is in trace amounts.. If anybody has any different info, though.....

SWIM had some a while back that did have DMT in it, a lot actually. Before that, he didn't believe any Yopo had DMT. But some Yopo definitely has enough that you can feel it.

Yopo is specifically peregrina, Vilca is specifically colubrina.

Vilca is better. Even the Yopo that SWIM had that was very high in DMT, was inferior to Vilca. DMT is weak compared to bufotenine. Bufotenine is about 5-10 times stronger than DMT. Plus Yopo is more toxic than Vilca.

If you want DMT, you’re better off getting mimosa. Although some Yopo has more DMT than Vilca, it also tends to have much more toxins than Vilca does.

That’s been SWIM’s experience anyway.

In Anadenanthera By Constantino Manuel Torres, David B. Repke, page 116, they talk about a batch of peregrina that was found to contain only DMT and 5-MeO-DMT. The alkaloid mix was 96% 5-MeO-DMT, 4% DMT, and no bufotenine. They were tested using gas chromatography.

So yes, there are some out there that don’t have bufotenine in them. But they are rare. Some peregrina are high in 5-MeO-DMT, some are high in DMT, but most are high in bufotenine and some toxins. With Vilca, it’s pretty consistently just bufotenine and some other toxins. With peregrina, it's a gamble (usually less toxins than Yopo). It could be high in bufotenine, high in DMT, or high in 5-MeO-DMT, or just high in toxins, or all of them! But in general, Yopo is much weaker and more toxic than Vilca (usually 2-10 times stronger than Yopo).

With Yopo, at most you'll get about 0.16% DMT. With Vilca you can have up to 12.4% bufotenine.

Nice, I had seen this book somewhere but never checked it out.. interesting how different the alkaloidal content can be in plants of same species!

any idea what these 'toxins' could be that induce nausea and all?

i guess for the indians using it its more the toxins they like.. purging is very important for indians. it is important to shed as much physical matter as possible before venturing into the spirit world.
