Another Stab at Salt

I was torturing myself by rereading Quantum Tantra's tek and came across a snippet of information that might be useful if true: " All DMT salts are insoluble in non-polar solvents -- with the exception of DMT acetate -- which is soluble in chlorinated non-polar solvents such as chloroform and DCM. Thus if you are using white vinegar (acetic acid) as your acid, you will need to use naptha or ether to defat as chloroform or DCM would extract the DMT acetate along with the oils and fats, defeating the purpose of this step." This would mean that one could extract MHRB with vinegar, defat with naptha, and then extract DMT acetate with DCM and evap. I dont know if DMT acetate is a nice dry snortable powder, but it seems worth a go if one could get some pure DCM or chloroform.

SWIM wil try when he got time for it. And will post here as soon as he does. Also... since acetone did dissolve dmt acetate, he took 5 grams of MHRB and washed it in acetone. Then evaped. Next day residue was left.. quite a lot for so little rootbark. Smell was that of DMT only slightly off .. just like DMT acetate smells a little of dmt freebase. Product is sparkeling and with something that looks like small particles of rootbark left in it.. too small for the coffee filter to handle. SWIM tryed to wash the product in heptane first... No success. Then with isoproanol unsuccessfully. Then with pure DCM. Nothing dissolved. SWIM is waiting for it to dry up .. then he wil try to snort the remaining powder. If this gives any effect. Then the fastest route to DMT salt might be just to wash with acetone and filter it properly

MYTH CONFIRMED..... SWIM had some time to try this acetone extraction today. He snorted a very little amount. There was no BURN what so ever. It is a very fine powder.. almost like dust. Color is dark grey with sparkles. After a little time. Though patterns changed.... then the colors where more intense... patterns started flowing a little. This was a VERY small dose. At this dose it was a very mellow and good trip. This is not like snorting DMT freebase at all. SWIM wil try bigger dose laiter. But will be carefull as this may contain some maoi and red spice properties. Oh and one more thing... when SWIM touched it, the smell of clean DMT was left on his fingers.

Tartaric Acid is very easy to acquire, take a look at wine/beer making stores

i know that, ive seen it before, its just a long ways away... we dont have any wine making stores near me. especialy for something that i dont even know is going to work... is there any proof that it will crystalize?

What country are you in? You could order with them via credit card or bank transfer and get them to post it out to you.. there's always a way i'm 100% sure it can be done, but whether it would work or not would depend on the process you're using, and likewise the quality of chemicals used. Making tartaric acid from cream of tartar surely wouldn't provide you with the quality tartaric acid you could acquire from a wine store you can also look at food additive suppliers, food chemical industry suppliers, and fine chemical suppliers. Tartaric acid isn't a suspect chemical, and apparently neither is fumaric acid - both are very easy to get if you make a few phone calls How did you plan to make the salt?

well i was going to extract a few grams and make them as pure as possible through recrystallizations and washes, weigh that and calculate mols... add an equal number of mols tartaric acid in aqueous solution and let it evaporate (that should be good right?). I'm in the u.s., ordering it online wouldn't be a problem, i was just looking for a quicker method of obtaining some (wanted some snortable by Christmas lol).

A word of warning to anyone using DCM to obtain the DMT acetate:

You are likely isolating a combination of DMT and N-chloromethyl-DMT.

Found an article from Dec. 2006 describing the isolation/characterization of this compound. It was not present in the plant (acacia confusa), but it was present in their extract after is was exposed to DCM (as a compnent of the eluent) under acidic conditions. Sounds like this will almost certainly happen with this process as described in the original post.
