these types of threads always crack me up.
its like cactus ID "operators are standing by",
just waiting for the next cactus selfie of some wally mart garden rack ,
or on some unsuspecting grammas window sill.

i see nothing of note beyond the typical specimen collection.

i appreciate the " get that mesc cucumber fast" spirit,
but IMO if your gonna eat em, ya should at least be able to spot them.
excellent cactus ID manuals, can be had for coins.

raiding marts or gramma,
is not the solution.
the "good ones" , can be easily ordered by mail.
or , my preference, grow thy own..............seeds are cheap.

cutters, no price tags, and what seems to be variety of plants beyond that shelf,
indicate strongly that this is a private collection.
id wonder why ya didnt ask the collector themselves?

It's like "wheres waldo" with cacti, I enjoy the challenge of attempting to identify plants or fungi, for me it's entertainment, as well as a learning experience, But I will never say "this is what you have", I only offer suggestions or say "it looks like it could be this or that"

But I suppose I get so excited to test my knowledge that I overlook the potential intentions of the poster...

...ha, I bet I could market a series of "where's waldo" style books featuring Entheogenic plants and fungi pictured on a page surrounded by look alike species, where the goal is to spot the entheogen...like a page full of Panaeolus sphinctrinus and Mycena epipterygia and you have to spot the Psilocybe semilanceata...or a bunch of Alicia anisopetal and other woody vines and you have to spot the caapi vine...

There really are some trichocereus appearing cacti in the bunch...5-7 rib columns, notched between the spines, etc...


Though I did not take these things into consideration:

...I think I should make the "entheogen where's waldo" book, if anything else just for myself, then it becomes all about learning the plants and disconnected from concerns of who you are giving the information, and what they may do with it.

especially if it was coloring book format.
actually put me down for 6 copies,
the maid is gonna want to color also,
and unless i give my friends copies, they will steal mine.


all this is really easy.
if ya see a collection, just ask the owner.
ive never met a cactus collector , that wouldnt tell ya the whole story of each plant.
gladly.

i dont have grandkids.
instead i have wallet size pics of my favorite lophs.
lemme tell ya about my lophs................

You know whats funny I bought a Peyote just to eat it but grows so slow and now its so dear to my heart that I dont want to consume it ever.
I also keep it incase they ever turn illegal here so that I can give them away.
I even donated a small offspring to my local botanical garden.
Its like a pet or even a child. You see them grow and develop. You are concerned if something is wrong. You protect them from harsh weather.
When I water my peyote I even dry it off using paper and a hairdryer. It has its own platic box that fill with dry air to keep mold away. That thing is my baby. I couldnt take it if anything happened to it. :cry:
