Anyone experienced loud ringing in ears when tripping?

Hey travellers, I'm getting a REALLY loud ringing in my ears immediately when the DMT hits, to the point that I can barely enjoy the experience. I don't even have tinnitus or any ear problems, and it's happening with even with small doses. Anyone else experienced this?

That's a fundamental element of the DMT experience that is frequently reported and has earned the term "carrier wave". IME it grows louder until it suddenly gets lost in the transition of breaking through. Small doses might be worse since you don't make it out of your head.

Crack cocaine is another smoked freebase drug that users associate with ringing. I wonder if there's a connection.

Freebase DMT is a one of a kind plateau, but if you're not trying to go all the way and the ringing is understandably unenjoyable, I'd recommend pharmahuasca. The oral route lasts 3-5 hours and is arguably a better way to use it, not just for lack of ringing.

See if you can keep going past the ringing, for me its just on the comeup then one more good toke and ringing subsides.

I have Tinnitus in one ear and I always play music in the room when having a session, so far I have never noticed a carrier wave or sound in my Trips, I'm guessing the music and my tinnitus are blocking it out.

This ringing sound comes more easily with vaped DMT, so I think it's dependent on fast absorption into your system. I've had it only a few times with oral brews, and it's a sign of an extremely strong journey then. Those sessions were the strongest and on the verge of overdose for me.
