Art Bin

Migrated topic.
Thank you, Guyomech. There's a couple attempts I made at rendering entities, but I don't know if they fit here considering the quality you guys are delivering. Also, if that one looks sinister already... :)

It's sinister in a good way! Did you draw it completely from scratch? It's really cool. A lot of my visions are stretchy gooey things like that, though usually in bright colors. It's been a time since I've done salvia, but I can see it in your picture.

Somewhat different and amateurish, but thought I'd share...

Vodsel... I Really like this one...lovely textures and great lighting...amateurish?...No way!...Definitely a favorite of mine...

Also a new one from me...

"Bodhisattva"
(Bodhisattva literally means an "enlightenment (bodhi) being (sattva)" in Sanskrit.)

edit: 2nd pass reigned in the madness..

I really like the way that just glows from within.

Vodsel, please don't be shy. You have a unique vision, and in this thread that is far more important than technical chops. If you want to try describing some of the experiences that inspired your art, that's always fascinating to hear.

SpinCycle... Dazzling. Very different too... A lot of your images really convey a sense of breaking through and shattering some kind of illusory glass ceiling.

Cyb: gorgeous as always. Over the top, yet balanced. You are somebody who can pull that off.

Cyb! Howly hells!! How do you keep making your stuff so much crazier, cooler and more awesome every time? That's my favorite aspect to mushrooms and DMT, and somehow you do that with your art. That latest one is so cool!! One of my faves for sure.

Spincycle - The first of the three is like a timelapse screen capture of my sub-breakthroughs 😁

That's a beautiful hatching. I'd like to be able to use tools to get that kind of imagery.

I didn't draw it from scratch... I have no skill in drawing programs. The few things I've made are composed by photographs I've taken, having some experience in mind. Actually the nice part is taking the photos knowing exactly what you will need from each frame. Then I compose them, work a little in paint (for impossible things, like the curdled black sap in the hollow tree) and finish in PS.

And thanks for the kind feedback, guys. I'm leaving another one I made, using tree parts. It evokes a faceless rider on a slow tree-beast, I know it can look creepy, but the vague memories I have of that experience have nothing dark in it.

That is really really cool Vodsel. It took me a second to notice the rider, but that's a really good thing actually. It doesn't give off the impression of creepiness to me. I think creating anything pulled from another world might be creepy to some, but us travelers of the high psychonautical seas are pretty used to the unusual. I really like it!

It's kinda funny you mentioned that cause I've actually been thinking along those lines myself lately. Any time I try to share something I find to be perhaps "charming" for example with the uninitiated it comes off really creepy, but to those who have been around the bend, they're thinking, "he knows..."

Vodsel Your Tree Rider reminds me of my trip to Angkor
Similarities with that ancient and magical place...:)

cyb - The places where human activity or creations have merged with nature always fascinated me. It's like human time solidified into geological time, a vision of the future.

And that's an awesome triptic, like H. R. Giger having a positive trip.

Art - I'm a sucker for cakes, I'll wait in line until the servings reach the purple rainbow spheres. It's my favorite flavour.

A lot happening on this page, wow! Vodsel, I really dig the tree entity; wood faerie vibe minus any cutesy factor. Really well done too.

Cyb, thanks for the Luminokaya hookup- his website is incredible. I've invited him to have a gallery here at the Nexus.

Art, that's very yummy cake. Please provide link to cleaner file at deviantart! Can't find you there via search for some reason.

There's more aliasing around the edges than I would have preferred (as I sharpened it quite a bit in order to maximize all of the filligree'd nooks and crannies). All in all, it's not exactly what I had hoped for, but I made liberal use of a new technique which should serve me well going forward.

I think this kind of piece would lend itself well to animation. I'm not there yet, but there's certainly no reason why the individual components couldn't be moved into Maya and made to turn and interweave in synchronized hyperspace fashion.
