This thread is equally depressing and empowering.
Depressing because i don't have great stuff to show off and some of you guys are just too good.
Empowering, because it makes me want to do more and get better at what i am doing.

Here is something i did for my cousin as a present.

Ryusaki that's great. I love how you use the patterns to make up something much greater. It comes across as very authentic.

Deer skull I found in the woods. At the time it still had clumps of hair all over it. I boiled it clean and painted it. It's not really done, but I doubt I'll get around to finishing it....

And here's a marijuana stem I grew, harvested, and painted gold. It's nice "V" shape is my victory reward for getting away with it. I miss growing, sigh.

Thanks for the kind words.
I think i expressed myself incorretly. I am not insecure about the quality of my stuff, its more like i am a VERY lazy person, and i could do MUCH more. Someone borrowed my camera (without returning it), i can't photograph some works, half of it is unfinished, or in possession of somebody else.
I have some stuff, but i can't show you guys... Makes me kind of depressed.


@beacon: I MUST MUST MUST be hard on myself or i would do nothing. I literally finished the work in the last minute on Christmas Eve.
Regarding the focal point... you wont get one from me. These abstract (kind of) images are deliberatly designed to give no such thing to the viewer. You should be visually overwhelmed and your eyes darting over the image. And this last one is even one of the lesser chaotic ones. :d

@Global: Thanks, i begged the spirits more than once to give me/show me something inspirational. In the end it payed off. I can say i found my style.
I plan to make the patterns even smaller and arrange them so that they create an complex quasi pictorial image.


The photo doesn't show the effect of these images. The colors are glossy lacquer (sp?)
There is no white in this image, its actually silver. The reflection changes when you change your angle to the light. The silver reflects even colors, reflect the sun and it will blend you.
I even paint black glossy lacquer on faint black acryl. Without the right angle of light you wont see it. If it reflects the light, it becomes light.
This is all part of the concept, i deliberatly wanted to create an image which changes depending on the surroundings.
The worth of art in the Age of photographical Reproduction (or Reproducibility) ?
Mine aren't reproducible!

Has nothing to do with mad skills, its more like an endurance contest. A highly autistic, torturous, way too long process involving only basic forms repeating over and over again with only minimal changes. Its not difficult to do, its just exhausting.

But i still feel kind of obsessive with it. I desperatly need more of these patterned stuff around me.
I'll make more until i can fill my living room with it.

also i have to say it guys people are copying Artwork these days , Ryusaki your work might soon be copied and sold without anything going towards you

should we be posting our Artwork ? any idea how does one copyright it exactly ?

i know i might not need to copyright anything i have submitted , yet i can already see something wonderful is coming up and i am scared of what that means

edit : i don't want to cause panic or fear-monger , i am just scared and appalled at whats happened with purges

haha, people are copying artwork 'these days'?

there's no way to copyright things with actual consequence unless you get extremely expensive legal backup. what are you so worried about? if it's people saving low-res JPGs and printing them out to sell on flakey websites then i wouldn't get too distressed about it. if it's people copying concepts, ideas, visual cues and making their own version, well, get better at it.

The thing in specific that I like about it is the tessellated feather motif. During one of my contacts with the godhead, it revealed to me that it was composed of different "rooms" - all completely different from each other, but all essentially taking up the same space. It's a mere shift in dimensional angle that causes the geometry to appear realigned to create something of completely different aesthetics and objects - all holy somehow. One of the rooms is Egyptian, and it was in that particular vision that it was revealed to me that all the Egyptian imagery they can create, can be made from much more basic DMT geometries, any of which you can find "at the front door" on a sub-breakthrough. Take a few basic DMT shapes, overlap them in the ever-so-perfect manner, and voila - you have a full array of feathers on a wing such as in this image. It makes me wonder if the Egyptian artists were aware of this, and if they used interesting geometrical guides to create designs that don't appear all too geometric like a winged arm, or the curves and proportions of bodies, etc...

Ryusaki, that's all great stuff- looks almost rooted in Australian dreamtime painting, but more personalized. If you could gather 6 or more images we would love to give you a member gallery.

Also: try photographing it outdoors, on a hazy day, with the sun behind you and off to the side a bit. You'll get nice flat lighting and a sharp exposure.

I have to second what Beacon said about copying. It's nothing new, and you can't let it deter you. My work has been shamelessly copied for decades and it's never hurt my career. The copier is a sad, pathetic individual. You are the one empowered with the vision. Work hard and you'll stay ahead. If you let fear be a reason to not share your work, then you are painting for an audience of one... And knowing that your art has connected with and enriched other individuals is one of creativity's great rewards.

First time I saw my stuff being sold bootleg for extra-cheap, it made my blood boil. I was literally shaking. But after a few hundred such incidents I realize it's a part of the commercial landscape, like litter by the side of the road. It sucks, we want it to go away, but life goes on.

yes. Thats exactly one of the images i was looking at before creating my version. I was looking at traditional sundisks and pictures of rising phoenix, and the horus falcon.
For some reason i wanted to mix all of them into one.
Since this was a present to my cousin who already owns one egyptian styled picture (Anubis), i decided to stick with the theme.

Regarding basic forms. I only use circles, dots, squares, polygons, arrows > and triangles.
I can create perspective by contrast or pattern. The next step would be to integrate a light shading into the patterns via different colors or different mixed (light/dark) patterns. I experiment with a heavy layer of acryl to deform the plane underground so that the light bounces in different directions. (more relief)

Its kind of odd, i never felt a connection to that particular indigeous group, i never saw much of their art until i finished my first 2 images. Then i saw some and the similarity didn't really suprised me (anymore).

I am currently working on 2 different paintings and then some, i also want to animate something in 3D, but all of it will take lots of time.

most recent collage. if anyone has any tips on color correction, hue & saturation etc. I would be very grateful. I wish the different images looked like they were cut from the same cloth if you will. I try and use s curves and the hue and saturation adjustments, but I always end up mucking it up. []Deace
