Assorted mushroomy talks

Migrated topic.
I'm certainly no expert on the matter so I could be wrong here, but I was under the impression that the traditional ayahuasca ceremonies typically take place in a group setting.

Yes, but they're not all sitting around a fire having a laugh trippin on the coals. His wording made made it sound like it was being used in a party setting and this always confused me since the first time I watched that video. Like mushrooms were the only psychedelic that take you that far.

Yes, usually they do. The speaker is referring to ayahuasca being more of a purge-like experience than that of mushrooms. Mushrooms can do that, too. He definitely wasn't calling off any entheogen.. he has great respect for all plants. What he applied to psilocybin is that it is the most reliable, biological, psychedelic technology. I can agree with this.. his talk went through quite quickly which is unfortunate. Glad he's able to speak and share. :)

:)

His exact quotes were as follows...

"Ayahuasca is social"

"it's part of a group experience"

"sitting around the campfire and singing the songs and supporting one another"

"but psilocybin is not like that"

"psilocybin is the journey of the alone into the alone"

IME DMT is hardly social. And I understand that ayahuasca is often taken in a group setting but it is far from being able to be called social. It is the journey of the alone into the alone. Vaporized DMT is just that.

IMO lsd, mushrooms, mescaline, and DMT are all the journey of the alone into the alone when taken in their proper doses for that type of experience. My issue was that he doesn't seem to understand this and he talks like he knows.

Great guy I just think he should have stuck with talking about his experience with mushrooms rather than psychedelics he has no experience with.

Agreed! Ayahuasca is used socially in ceremonies, yes. It's always personal. As with any entheogen. Then you share your experiences with others in the group. Some people even use it in their home with loved ones or by themselves.. it's all the same deal. Traditional ways have profound understandings. So could friendly gatherings around fire.

Psilocybin is completely different. I had life changing experiences with friends. It's also incredible to do alone. Neither is greater than the other. They both are amazing allies to work with.

DMT specifically is not social, no. Especially if you are alone. It works just as well with a sitter. Ayahuasca ceremonies are comforted by the larger group setting.

I've never met him.. so I can't know whether or not he knows. His presentation was specifically on mushrooms anyways. So yesm mentioning other psychedelics was unnecessary but complimenting nonetheless.

The Kilindi Iyi talk was a bit strange for me. There were things that I found really interesting, but I felt a bit uncomfortable by the way that he spoke his message. I must say it was the first thing I'd seen from him so I have no background information on him.
Even though he says he's not boasting it didn't come off that way to me. Anyone else have this feeling?

What was fascinating was the Maoi statue theory of the big mushroom nose 😁
I had never looked at it that way.

I do feel some form of skepticism on some of those things he is seeing in those pictures because we just can't be sure. Am I the only one with this feeling or is that just beside the point?

I know what you mean,

i watched another of his talks and he has some interesting things to say but he is very mushroomcentric and there did seem to be some serious stretches in the things he said and pointed out, such as there being mushroom symbology in everything.

i always lose a bit of interest when people tell me that they know "THE TRUTH".

I had to watch it twice. The first time, I was a little biased and skeptical. I am willing to argue that Mescaline is complete in its own self, AND has a much much much more stable molecule when it comes to oxidation and standing the test of time. Anyways, that's not the point....

The second time I watched it, I tried not to focus on judging his words for face value, but seeing if there was anything useful that I could apply to my own practices. There were some things I found interesting. :)
