Attack on Tai-Chi???

[ab381]

I was interested in practicing Tai-Chi on a regular basis and i stumbled across this site which was the first site in the Google that came up: http://www.thejinn.net/truth_about_spontaneous_chi.htm .

I just had to share this because its just so ridiculous and i wanted to know what any members who have had high experience in the art thought of this webpage. For me it seems like the author is trying to fuse some sort of weird extreme Christian and Islamic viewpoint with his warning against Tai-Chi and the link given at the top of the page (My Story) , is even more unbelievably ignorant . But let me know what you guys think of this.

That's the outcome you often see when ancient cultural practices are filtered through a Christian perspective. The author seems to have forgotten about balance and harmony and chooses to focus on any negative aspect that fits his conclusion.

I've been doing chi kung for about 15 years, so I must be full of demons.

Yeah true man, the second site (dangerofchi) is even more strange as the author starts talking about having some sort of Islamic exorcism done due to his practices in Tai-Chi. I just find it highly disappointing that sites like this are ranked so high up on Google, because this could ultimately put a lot of beginners off/scare them away from starting Tai-Chi.

I found that link pretty funny. Not just because I really don't buy into the idea of systems that claim to allow you to harness spiritual energy. I believe that control over the body can allow you to do very interesting things. I see things like tai-chi and yoga being more about harnessing the power of the mind to control the body and vice-verse. When you start believing that there is more to these systems, you become prone to delusion.

The funnier thing here is the subtle hatred that you can see coming through. It is clear that those sites were made by intolerant people who have allowed themselves to fear the delusions that they have come to believe. Hatred is just an expression of fear. And intolerance is just an expression of hatred.

Those sites may be right that some tai-chi and martial arts practitioners perform these systems with malice intent, but this is just because they have been drawn into delusion. The hunger for power has allowed them to be convinced that they have found some magical power that does not exist in the way they believe it does.

But there is no reason to rally against taichi as a whole, only against those who misappropriate its use in order to gain power over others.

My uncle is red sash in Tang Shao Tao Kung Fu, who learn't the fighting side of Tai-Chi (basically Tai-Chi sped up to give you an idea). We have had many discussions on "Chi" energy.
As such, he doesn't believe in "Chi" being some magical force you pull up out of the earth and into your body, extending out to your fingers etc, even thou this is what he imagines when going through certain motions.

It just so happens that most Chinese teachings of martial arts goes with philosophical teachings. But these need to be treated independently (such as religion and morality) IMO
