Attempted first time - using the machine

Well, it's been a while since I've been on here, but up until recently I hadn't had much in the way of being able to procure DMT, or any psychedelic for that matter. I finally managed to get some from a good friend.

I've managed to build a 'machine', as pictured here.

I finished drilling the hole earlier (hope I never have to go through that again) and cut the copper wool a little bit more to make it fit, and cut a straw to use for the hole.

While attempting to take my first hit, just 10 mg, I came across a number of problems that prevented me from getting any sort of effect at all.

1) I believe I still have too much copper wool, preventing the spice from being adequately heated, and forcing me to heat the sides of the bottleneck in order to liquify and vape the spice. I don't know if this is evident in the pictures or not, but I'd appreciate any input.

2) Weighing and loading the spice was incredibly awkward. I got a 0.01 (centigram) scale for $30 locally, as I couldn't find a more precise one. I used tweezers to remove small amounts of the DMT onto the scale until I believed it would be around 10 milligrams (although I think the slow loading by tweezers due to the fear of dropping the DMT contributed to the number on the scale refusing to change). After this I used a card to (messily) scrape the spice onto the bottom of the bottle and into the hole, onto the copper wool. Could I have been more efficient with this?

3) What disturbed me the most was that when I did try to vape the DMT by heating the part of the wool that was sticking out, as the DMT liquefied and bubbled, the smoke wafted off the bottleneck and didn't seem to make it into the bottle at all. Is this because of the amount of wool?

Needless to say, this has left me feeling a bit pathetic. If there is anything anyone notices that's particularly dumb about what I've done, please inform me. It seems that I was a little too eager to experience DMT, and made some noobish mistakes in the process.

Ok so...
Your bottle might be too large. But awesome job!
Your scrubber should sit just under the lip of the bottle.

My suggestion to you is to take out the mesh and cut it down to about an inch or less, keeping the mesh flat and it should sit about 1/4 of an inch below the lip.
Get a straw that bends so you can have the bottle vertical.
Place spice on top of the mesh outside the bottle, not inside.
Then pre-melt the spice so it soaks into the screen. You don't need to draw in while heating it, just wave the lighter back and forth lightly until it melts (don't burn it!).
Next, you can either have the bottle right side up, or upside down (it's up to you).
Slowly heat the spice while drawing in, never let the flame hit the spice it it will burn.
Oh and the other thing is 10mg is a nice "testing the waters", but won't take you in to hyperspace.
Oh and 10mg might not even show up on a scale. Work your way up to 25mg and things will change!!!

Ps. Another thing you could do is ditch the straw all together (if it doesn't do the job) and just suck on the hole with your lips where the straw was.

1. You may be using too much wool. I use less than half as much. I don't see why more would be a bad thing with the exception of the machine requiring more heat to liquify and vaporize the DMT.

2. I don't think there's really a need to weigh the DMT when loading the machine. I load it with about a teaspoon's amount of DMT and vape it as needed. How much DMT is actually vaporized depends on how far away you hold the lighter (and how much DMT is left in the steel wool). I hold the lighter about 4 inches below the opening of the bottle.

3. The vapor will just go around the sides of the machine unless you are sucking in while the DMT is vaping. You don't have to breath in heavily; a small amount of airflow will keep the vapor from going outside of the bottle.

Nice machine, btw. The machine is by far my favorite vaping method, but I've never seen somebody use a straw in the opening like that. Very good idea.

Alright, I've cut the mesh to what looks like a proper size. I'll find out tomorrow if it works well. What I did was put some DMT in a spoon and melted it there, then rubbed the mesh into it.

Yep, a 'test dose' was what I was going for with the 10 mg, especially because I haven't done any other psychedelics before. This didn't show up on the scale at all, although the baggy containing the DMT seems to have gone down by .05 grams, which is slightly disconcerting, though I'm assuming it's just the inaccuracy of the scale. I'm planning on paying attention to the strength of the first hit or two to judge potency.

Is there anything else I should do to prepare myself for dipping my toes in the water, so to speak? I plan on getting up and working out, taking a shower, then maybe watching an episode of Cosmos or something similar before trying it out.

Hi everybody!

Nice job. If your bottle is too big, then my first one is waaaaaaaaayyyy too big
I suspected this to be the case so I made a "mini-machine" from a 70 ml (I think) clip-top bottle. I did break one in the process of drilling the hole - yet another long to medium length story.

I tested my mini last night with a 20mg dose & it works pretty well. Not enough for hyperspace, but I was cautious, not wanting to be caught off guard so to speak. I do think my extraction has gone quite well regarding quality & potency, although I expect the two are related.

I have my mesh slightly inside the bottle (as mentioned above) & I melted the spice by blasting a cooks blowtorch flame quite carefully just above & across the bottle neck. I did accidentally vape part of a 20mg test dose a few days ago being careless & letting the flame get too close to the spice, so I like to think I've learned something.

I find the good thing with smaller 'shot bottles' is they mostly have metal caps.. If you remove the inner seal from this then once you have preheated the spice you can give it a very gentle bit of heat while holding upside down (a tad of heating the glass can help also while doing this).

I find this then makes for a much more efficient dose when taking the main journey

Zen, you mentioned the metal cap thing. Try this. Punch a hole about the size of a pen tip with in the center of the metal cap. make sure it is not too big though. Place the cap on tight, make sure you have spice on the mesh screen below. Now run the flame slightly away from the cap. You will get enough heat, just enough heat for a proper heated hit. This is where the machine goes to the next level! If you can get the distance right with the mesh under, then it should give you a GVG type hit.
Try it!!!

I personally used a glass vinegar bottle with the metal cap left on, it has that same hole. Let me tell you... Proper hits. So good, no harsh taste and never burnt a hit yet!

I have a spare lid somewhere from a botched attempt at punching hole in the glass (ended up grinding down the whole bottom on second one and using a seal and glass tube from a 'basil bong' glass 'bulb' vaporizer that fits perfect) so I will gladly give that a shot on my next attempt..

I really like the look of the second one.. My main issue with my machine is the lack of such a good angle (it's basically straight).

Not only that but I would like to journey WITH my wife someday rather than having to take it in turns (so far for her two journeys I abstained for the night to focus on her and allowing her to communicate what she saw without me being all "OMG OMG it's so beautiful, so familiar yet so astonishing, I had NO idea" lol).

Another machine is in the pipeline and you just gave me the answer in true synchronistic fashion (the best way hehe)

Well, just tried again for over an hour and a half (with a bathroom break and walking around the house) from 3:30 to 4:45ish. Didn't feel anything. I periodically put more DMT into the spoon and preheated it, and rubbed the mesh in it. I tried varying distances holding the lighter from the mesh. In many cases I got nothing, and I believe in some I may have burned it because the smoke was too harsh. I could actually see the smoke though, as opposed to in most cases.

I was able to hold the air in for a little over ten seconds in most cases, but when it was too harsh, only four or five. I'm not sure what I did wrong, because I think I tried pretty much every possible distance from the mesh, going from no smoke to a little to too much and stopping early and coughing. I might try again with more DMT in a few days/next week, it could be I simply didn't use enough. The problem I'm having with that is I've used maybe a fourth of what was in the baggy, and in total it should have been 200 mg. I may try getting a cap and punching a hole in it (with what, I'm not sure though).
