Attempting my first DMT extraction Mimosa Hostilis STB, have a few basic questions

I'm planning on making my first attempt at the Noman's Tek

What I have:
Lab gloves/goggles/respirator
100g pre-powedered Mimosa Hostilis inner root bark
1 gallon HDPE jug
Kleaner Strip VM&P Naptha - Products - Klean Strip
Roebic Crystal Drain Opener - Professional Strength Crystal Drain Opener | ROEBIC Laboratories, Inc. - The Septic Professionals
A stainless steel turkey baster (couldn't find glass)
1 gallon white distilled vinegar

First question is regarding the naphtha I have. It seems to be marketed as a paint remover, the labeling is different then standard Klean Strip VM&P naphtha, is it still good to use?

Another question, when mixing the lye with water it says in Noman's tek to stir slowly as adding. This draws confusion because the solution is dangerous. The opening on the jug is pretty small to imagine fitting a metal spoon in there so I'm not sure what to use. More importantly I'm not sure what to do with what I use to stir in between adding, it's going to be covered in a caustic solution so I imagine just throwing it on the table in between adding lye repeatedly isn't safe. Is the stirring as adding necessary? If so, please advise.

Around how slow should the lye be added? I'm adding 100g of lye to 1500ml of water and would like a rough estimate on how much I should add and how long I should wait before adding that amount again.

Is using distilled water and de-ionized water the same thing?

Will throwing naphtha in the freezer for a hour before adding to the solution to reduce fumes be a bad idea?

Is evaporating remaining naphtha on the pyrex container/coffee filter after freeze precipitation outside in 90-100 degree weather a bad idea?


That's pretty much it, I'm excited to get the ball rolling but patient to make sure I'm informed beforehand. Any other input, or if anything looks wrong in the ingredient listing I have, please let me know.

I once used a jar that was too large and ended up with a thin layer of naphtha...I couldn't find a substitute container that would work...so,.I added more naphtha and pre evaped before freeze precip....that worked well until the last pull, I was almost out of naphtha and only had enough for a thin layer.

I basted out the thin layer along with some base soup and decanted into a small, narrow glass...I let this settle into layers and pulled the solvent. done.

I've learned, the hard way, that it's a good idea to invest in proper equipment or you will run into hassles and frustration...have fun and good luck!

I totally agree, if there's one thing that I learned big time with my first attempt - EQUIPMENT!!! Like no shit, next extraction I'm gonna have everything. Might even go overboard with a magnetic stirrer and a separatory funnel lol. I like the HDPE containers, but should of got a smaller one like 2 quart instead of a gallon. I'm glad a salvaged it, I was about to dump it last night. I'll post pictures in a bit.

I did a 350ml pull and threw it in the freezer. It looks like a bunch of crystals are floating around in the Naphtha this morning, but none are sticking to the sides of the container. Is evaporating the Naphtha down required or can I just pour this through a coffee filter?

I'm going to attempt another 100g extraction next week, this time with a proper container . What's a good diameter for the container to be when extracting that much? So, figure it's gotta be thin enough for 100ml to be somewhat deep. I want to order a HDPE and can inquire about the diameter.

It's best if you pour off as much of the solvent as possible. Leaving the crystals soaking in it risks them re-dessolving as the naptha warms. You should be able to pour most off without pouring out crystals, then put the dish back in the freezer, keeping things cold before trying again to pour some off. You can also use a pipette or corner of a paper towel (away from the crystals) to get more of the solvent up. THEN evap the rest. I don't like using coffee filters unless necessary, because they are a pain to get the dmt off of.

As for the coffee filters you already have-- you can throw them in the freezer where they will dry and make it easier to scrape off the dmt.

In terms of bottle dimensions, just go with something tall-- a lot of the bottles look to have a height about 3 times the diameter.

At this juncture I like to just evap or save my solvent for next time, even with spice left in it (up to a gram even sometimes.) I usually get all my spice in one pull after salting the soup and usually use a little more naphtha than necessary since I'll probably just save it to use next time anyway. If I or a friend is ever in need I can always evap my recycled naphtha. If you evap you'll certainly want to learn how to re-x since you'll be left with a somewhat impure product.

So just pull it out the freezer and slowly pour it off being careful to keep the crystals in the container. I'm gonna attempt my second extraction tonight. My plan is to find a good glass jar at the grocery store, I'm thinking a pickle jar, and seeing how much water it can hold before determining how much I'm extracting. So just add water and see how many ml before its 4 inches from the top. I like wine bottles, but dam that opening is so small! How do you guys even get the lye in there while stirring slowly?

Wine bottles are probably going to be your best bet for an improvised extraction vessel... take some distilled water and dissolve your NaOH in that, then pour it into your extraction vessel. Make sure to do this relatively slow and outdoors since you don't want to be breathing in the vapor while it is dissolving. I recommend getting a glass syringe and some ptfe tubing for pulls... imo that alone will make things easier for you. I also use a 1000ml volumetric flask with a glass stopper which I LOVE as my extraction vessel. Remember that hdpe is fine when using with a basic solution but doesn't do as well with solvents so glass is always going to be the best bet. Cool, I'm gonna be headed to walmart again for my second go. I'm gonna see how much water the extraction vessel can hold and just base how much I extract off of that. So if it takes 1000ml of distilled water to get 4 inches from the top I'll extract 66g etc. I got lucky and got my hands on 2.5 kilo's of mimosa right before they made it a bitch to get lol. I know that's overkill but I could get it and knew it was about to be impossible to obtain so I got as much as I could at the time. Got a lot to experiment with .

I just took a hit of it... I tripped balls ! I was like "what's going on...." lol I've done DMT but only street DMT. This is far cleaner, doesn't leave plant fat oils behind, smoother to hit, and a little stronger . I went crazy!

I did my second extraction, I did two pulls letting them chill in the freezer overnight. When it's done I'll post pictures of the process and let y'all know how it went.

Invest in a better smoking device & you will get much more out of your spice.
I have smoked ice from those style pipes many times & have a good method down, but with DMT, they tend to overheat & burn alot of the dose easily.
Even a bong with a wad of copper mesh, torch lighter, & good vaping technique seems to win out over oil pipes.
With a 10in bong & a good chore wad in the stem it is easy to clear a 25mg dose in a hit or two & breakthrough.

Aight, so I did a second attempt, then a third attempt lol.

I found a better container, a half gallon pickle jar pictured below.

I fucked up on the second attempt, my biggest yield in the first two pulls were epic! I left them out to evaporate and went to a friends place. I don't have central air and turned my window unit off. It got a little warm in my place with no fan on them, they turned to goo. Worse then goo, because I poured naphtha on them again - threw them in the freezer - and not nearly as many crystals formed. I'm no chemistry expert but I'm guessing some DMT was carried into evaporation with the Naphtha or something .

So I did a third attempt which went very well. I did get some of the soup (not much) into the collection jars which made the DMT a slight brown, outside of where the goo was in the jar the crystals were solid white.

I did 3 pulls on the second and third attempt jars. I'm going to do another pull, not sure how many you guys do. The recycled Naphtha I have was stored in the freezer to avoid fumes. I would of put it back in the Naphtha canister but the opening was too small. I'm planning on just pouring the freezing naphtha back in the jugs, waiting a day for it to warm up, then pulling it until I don't get anymore crystals.

Right now I have more DMT than I could of imagined ever having. I don't have a mg scale, and wouldn't want to dump it all on a scale, but just eyeballing based on how much I've done to trip face in the past it's a lot. This is most likely a lifetime supply for me lol, my motive in trying to obtain more is to give it to friends. I had a breakthrough on the DMT I extracted that shattered my concept of reality .

A question I have, I got a few drops of the base soup in the naphtha. Not much at all. Would this make the spice dangerous to smoke? I got a few drops in some of the pulls, in the end I mixed all the yield together. I plan on vaping with a GVG and have read the temperature it takes to evaporate lye is much higher then spice. I don't mind if it's harsh, as long as it won't kill me or make me really sick. I'd much prefer to not do a re-x. I had smoked a pull that had a small amount of base soup in it and had no ill effects.

Lol, you got a mighty big pile there. Since you mixed it all together and you say only a few drops of lye I doubt your contamination is going to be all that dangerous. Still, you have a definite reason to go ahead with re-xing and it is very easy to accomplish anyway.

I usually have at least a small pile to re-x after a decent sized extraction.

If you want to purify a yield that has oils and possibly some lye soup in, I use the easiest way ever:

1. have your product in a wide flat bottomed glass container
2. place in preheated hot water bath (no flames or heat needed at this stage)
3. add minimum solvent and stir until all soluble part dissolves
4. let it cool slowly checking on it every 20 mins or so
5. at some point you'll find little puddles of yellow oil forming on the bottom. the solution may also start to go just slightly cloudy - don't let it cool any more than this before going on to 6
6. pour off the solution to another wide flat bottomed glass container. all the puddles of oil and other solid matter will stay on the bottom of the first container
7. watch pretty little crystals start to form for 4 or 5 hours
8. put into freezer to make sure every last bit of spice crystalizes out
9. pour off solvent and leave to dry
10. use a thin piece of card to scrape off the crystals on to blotter. using a metal blade means you scrape up a thin fatty layer that usually settles on the bottom.

I used to use endless A/B->A/B-A/B->solvent purifications which lost me a lot of product and didn't give a particularly good result.
