ayahuasca brew ineffective

I heard this is a classic, i brewed my first ayahuasca in the past days and today i tried it without getting any of the effects.

The material i used: 130/140 grams of yellow B.caapi (whole, powdered/shredded by myself, while speaking the intentions) and 100 gr of psycotria viridis.
I did a 3X3 boiling (bringing to just boil the first run), spoke the intentions while brewing, filtered a few times, and reduced to about 500ml.

So today is one whole week of diet and inner preparation and the day i decided to be the one of the first cerimony.
I drank more than half of the mixture (the color was extremely dark/brown and the beverage was quite dense and concentrated) without to get any consistent effect, well.. maybe a weird feeling like being a little bit drunk and sedated but with any psychedelic effect and very subtle anyway.

So i heard this is common and i wanted to ask if you guys know why this could happen... i can only explain thinking about a bark issue (bad caapi in this case), in fact i have still 350 grams of this caapi and 200 grams of chacruna.. what can i do with them? Should i brew more material or change tek? if so, what do i have to change?
Or should i just change immediately the type of caapi and vendor without to waste my time and any chacruna leafs?

Don't know, but with the amounts/kind of dried, oldish, amazonian herbs we can get a hold on overseas, it would be better to add something acidic (vinegar, citric acid, lemonjuice, ascorbic acid...etc) into the brew? Not sure if you did that? In the amazon they don't do that but they:
1.) have fresh material
2.) loads & loads of it

Did you not feel any effect from the chacruna? Not even a slight touch of tinnitus or wall crackling getting louder? CEV's?

How fast did the purge come?

500ml is a lot of liquid...

edit: the caapi works by what you described; we would try boiling the caapi/chacruna separately with something acidic, boiling them 3x3 hrs, then reducing both to 80ml. First we'd drink the caapi brew and 35min to 45min later we'd drink the chacruna brew. (if it wouldn't work this time, then we'd suspect it is old/bad/spent chacruna aka germs of the goods)

You can add vinegar if you want but it doesn't really seem to do much in regards to strength. Sounds like it was having at least a mild effect but that's a lot of vine so it does sound off.... There is a few factors here though. The first is that aya can tend to be fairly weak for people the first couple times, as if they need to adjust to it or something. Vine can also vary in potency quite a lot so that's another big factor. I've had some that was still pretty weak even in the 100g+ range. Also, were you full on boiling it or just a light simmer? Don't be afraid to keep it at a rumbling boil.

Also as said above 500ml is a lot of liquid, I'd reduce it down much further so it's just a small cup full. It also helps to eat a small bit of fruit or something after drinking the brew so to kick in digestion. And as said before you might want to try brewing them seperately and drinking the caapi a few minutes before hand. (you can do 3 half hour boils with chacruna/mimosa/chali/rue instead of)

Laying down and breathing deep/slowly in silent darkness also helps to go much deeper into the dreamy trances.

Yeh sorry, i forget to mention also the apple vinegar i used to bring to ph 4.

So you basically think it is a matter of adjustment of the doses or/and to let the body takes confidence with the compounds... i agree with you, i should concentrate more the beverage, 600ml was quite a lot, but i realized it after a while.

I can say that i definitely felt something, like waves of light euphoria mixed to a strange feeling sick/drunk or fever sensation.

We could also consider that is just the viridis to be ineffective... then i could add some grams of mimosa brew and see what happen but im bit scared of mimosa regarding to its toxicity 4 oral use... that's why i wanted to work with the original recipe. (a separate mimosa brew was something that i considered at the begin, but im pretty scared of its potential, even if for the dmt extraction is just amazing!)

What if i try boiling more caapi with the charcuna (ph 4 and higer boiling temperature)
like 160-170gr caaapi plus 100gr chacruna) and reduce to something like 200/250 ml...? tell me if im wrong.

Why do you think mimosa is toxic? Because of the tannins?

I'm afraid of mimosa for his high DMT content, and i read of people having bad reactions or more bad trips, i dont know...it is not even easy to dose because there are no clear info around... how much should i brew to TRY and experiment with it? I heard that even less than 3 grams is enough.. is it true?

It sounds a lot like you got the MAOI but barely any DMT. Increase the viridis in increments perhaps? I agree that you should separate the brews till you nail the dosage.

Most of the time, a bad trip is induced by your set and setting. Being positive, open and calm is crucial. I would be more worried about smoking large doses as opposed to drinking them, as the come-up is a lot more gradual. Be safe nonetheless!

I can't comment on your ingredients as I don't have experience with them, but consider a different strategy or using Acacia confusa root bark powder/syrian rue if you're still having trouble- It's been very predictable and effective for me. It allowed me to ease into it and nullify the fear of overdoing it the first go.

Sounds like your vine was working right based on the drunkness & sedation, could possibly just be weak.
I had a handfull of failed brew, the most recent one was the first time i saw hyperspace aside from smoking.
Try extracting some spice, & getting a feel for your vine. If half a 100g brew didnt produce strong effect, try brewing 250g, reducing down until it's ~450ml (80ml per 50g) or less, try 120ml, then 160, etc. until you feel the vine at a level your comfortable with.
Then next time, take that dosage of brew, dissolve 50-75mg dmt freebase in (brew should be acidic enough to convert the dmt to salt form) & drink.
For me 50g vine & 80mg spice worked to keep me fading in & out of.hyperspace for ~2hours with residual effects lasting another 3 hours.
