Okay, everyone so I am at a loss with what to do with this. Heres the story:
I had some caapi which was strained thrice in a wash I hath made acidic with vinegar.
Said washes were thusly combined and hark, I did amake them basic with potash.
(actually, I used lye but an old name for KBr was potash lye! =)

That night then I did set the mixture to evaporate on medium for a length of several hours.
With the addition of more vinegar, to push the harmalas into their salt form.

After that time I did find to my surprise... well, you'll see the pictures. This strangeness formed
from a liquid, and obviously contains the harmalas which we are after. I do not want to eat this
mixture since it still contains lye, but also it leaves me at a loss as to what to do next.

Nice one guys, This is what I was thinking of doing. :) When I add the sodium carbonate does that precipitate the alkaloids automatically? I'm hoping I can get all the stuff to dissolve, and remove the solids with filtering.

The goods should disolve quite nicely in ph4 vinegar solution, maybe even 5 or 6.

But just add sodium carbonate until the colour stops changing and then leave the jar for 12 hours minimum an the goods should drop right out almost instanstly.

Game set and match then, I'll have to wait untill next weekend until I can do this though. Thanks for the advice everyone
