Hey Nexians,
Been a lotta years since I've posted here, was more active around 2009ish and life's changed pretty substantially
Spent the last 5 solar cycles tuning into cactus cultivation and extraction more than mimosa.
When I was posting back in the day, I was just barely a legal adult and hadnt extracted anything myself.
Did about ten years in medical cannabis working open blasting and cold loops until that all crashed. Didn't get into that line of work to be involved with corporations or cartel's so I bowed out some years ago
These days I mostly tend to cacti. I am responsible for somewhere in quadruple digits of cactus, a majority ones I started from seed.
I recently learned cielo from the lovely folk over on Reddit and decided to focus more effort socially here than reddit. Lots of nonsense about provence and pricing that'd I'd rather just avoid. Looking forward to genuinely kind people who actually eat the medicine they grow.
I hope to be able to offer some of the poly culture, regenerative farming practices and general psychedelic history to the group. Always open to trying to help troubleshoot unhappy cactus or plants in general
Any questions feel free to ask in a thread or privately.
Thanks and you matter♥️

Welcome back to the Nexus!

If you remember your old account name and want to get access to it, let a mod know. But it's also fine if you prefer to come back under this new identity.

Your cacti look absolutely beautiful, and so do your mescaline crystals.

I recently learned cielo from the lovely folk over on Reddit and decided to focus more effort socially here than reddit. Lots of nonsense about provence and pricing that'd I'd rather just avoid. Looking forward to genuinely kind people who actually eat the medicine they grow.
While the Nexus is not as active as a subreddit, in my biased opinion it's much more worth it being here. I find the old-school forum culture to be much more conductive to a high quality of conversation. And I'd say the Nexus is special even amongst the old-school drug forums.

I hope to be able to offer some of the poly culture, regenerative farming practices and general psychedelic history to the group. Always open to trying to help troubleshoot unhappy cactus or plants in general
It will be much appreciated. I'm just getting into cacti myself (before I actually know where I'm going to be living for the next few years, ha) so I'm personally very interested in anything cactus-related right now :)

Again, welcome to the Nexus and check out the chat if you have time at some point.

Wow, beautiful cacti! Obviously well loved 😍
Can I ask roughly what bioregion you're in? I'm curious if cacti would overwinter in a greenhouse at my latitude

I do remember it and although it would be cool to have early join date, I am essentially a different person so I'm gonna just let those posts lay where they are. 18 year olds often think what they're saying is more profound than it actually is 😂

Thank you

Yeah I miss that sort of dialogue and will happily trade quality over quantity. I could go on a diatribe about what I think is wrong with internet cactus culture but I'll wait until someone asks.
Someone described me as "long horizon, low noise type person, living in a short horizon, high noise reality"
Like the cactus I tend to move slowly these days

Feel free to ask anything and I'm happy to chat with you. When you land where ever home ends up being I'll send you some seedlingings as a house warming gift
And I'll get my computer turned on and check out the chat later today!

I'm in Southern Oregon rogue valley adjacent.
The original idea when I sowed 15-20k seeds five ish years ago was to find one pheno that would grow full exposure in Oregon.
Haven't found it quite yet but getting closer. They can handle a mid 20s freeze pretty easily. At least the ones that are still alive, lost a bunch in various freezes.
The main thing is keep em dry when it gets cold and I've been surprised what they can handle with that in mind
Thank you for your kind words

Awesome pics, you have a lovely garden and obviously care about this stuff, so I think you'll fit right in no problem. Always lovely to have experts join our ranks <3
Thank you! I deeply care about this slice of society. I'm trying to figure out how to start interviewing various elders in my area and trying to document a few undocumented things that most likely would be of interest to anyone here... Oh if I had more funds
I hesitate to call myself an expert because I am mostly self taught and still learning!

Hey, welcome back! I'd love your post twice if the option was available - once for the words and again for the pictures.

Great to have you around, from a fellow medicine eater who's endlessly amused by the idea of turning ones urine into alkaloids!

Heading out to the greenhouse today so I could add some more pictures. Anything particular you're interested in?
I can't wait to see some more photos of your garden, give me some details on your cacti if you know what they are. Love me my cacti.

post away over here on the How does your cacti grow thread and photo bomb away , a lot of members frequesnt this thread and i"m sure lots would love and appreaciate your garden 😍

WOW those are some gorgeous cacti. I think I recognize your name (because its awesome) after lurking on r/sanpedro. Im doing my first experience and wanted to make sure I acquired the right kind of cultivar and who the reputable, sustainable growers are, so I was perusing there quite a bit last week.

I look forward to learning from your posts! Youve clearly got a really good understanding of these beautiful plants!

I frequent Reddit once i a while, mostly the trading site now, alot of cool plants being traded on some of those groups but most of the traders are US based.

I'll have to make an apperance on reddit some time this week, look forward to your grow

Thanks! I've got a whole mix of different stuff in the garden. The big four species(pach, Peru, bridge, and scop) are pretty well represented in seedlings. I put down a few thousand, maybe more, of Ross Gs 2022 op year. If you don't know he's a breeder in New Zealand, who does some pretty incredible work. Big in ground stands so you can see the potential. There were 18 different open pollinated seeds in that round if I remember correctly, and the ones that have cold tolerance are what have make it so far.
Guru Op, Decosta op, weka op, Dat2 op DeCosta x Slimer, Uawa x Notch, Guru x Notch. More I can't remember offhand too
The other big component of seeds is from misplant, who has potentially the largest breeding program I am aware of. He's a spikey dude, but kind and generous if you come at him with a well thought out question. Lots of people think he's mean but I have always thought he's just hilarious and too old for their shit!
Lots of Dr Greenthumb scop hybrids from him, some zelly x Lumberjack ones caught my eye yesterday but my phone died.
Then the other bed is mainly clones or seedlings from other folks. Highland Huancoensis is personal favorite, I have a giant no Id scop that's super cool. Wowie x Yowie is a cool one too. Slowly building up my tbm-bs and a some of those pups are getting huuuuge. Lee x Hz is another favorite. The two strongest mescaline wise one are Eileen, and bridge that came from Shulgin via a friend. Neither are particularly thick plants, and 2-3 inches of the raw material from both of these plants (on separate occasions) put me into a horizontal position for a few hours. I'm still figuring out dosing and that's a big reason I started doing cielo was to have the base line of "120mg of fumerate feels like, _____. 250 feels like _____"
Both those id guess were upwards of 250 comparatively.
Definitely wishing I found more bridge phenos that were cold tolerant. Started more seeds this year including SS02 x Wowie, so bridge x bridge. Hopefully they do well over the winter.

Apart from the medicine, I really love mutants and crested stuff. Seems like they may be potentially some high alkaloid stuff in there but I haven't tested it yet

This is more indicative of what I have sowed more than what I have. It's a bit outta date because spreadsheeting thousands of plants get kinda tiresome

I haven't used this handle on reddit, I did have an insta for a bit but someone else stated using the name and went all sales crazy so I just kinda dropped it. It is an awesome name though!
Lots of great sellers on reddit! Ive listed stuff there but it feels like they get lost in onslaught of variegated whatevers so Ive kinda backed off. The cold tolerant pheeno hunt effort goes over a lot of heads
Feel free to DM with questions if you want
