I have been dreaming a lot recently about doing a harmala extraction. In my dream, Harmalas were extracted from the shredded/powdered vine by soaking in IPA (for a month??), INSTEAD of doing 3 acidic boils. The IPA was then evaporated down to resin, redissolved in the minimal amount of water/vinegar, and purified using the extraction tek in the wiki.

I believe the point of this dream was to show me an alternative route to doing acid boils. Does this dream seem plausible?

Harmalas arent very soluble in IPA theyre more soluble in ethanol so you would need a large amount of IPA to do it.
If you were going to soak them for a month then you may as well soak it in acidic water for a week then FILTER, basify by dropper, decant liquid away from precipitates, rinse, filter and purify.
That way you could use mimimal water if using a stove top to reduce is your issue.

Also check out the link in my signature for a tek on cold extraction of caapi.

I've used IPA to perform an extraction of caapi but the results weren't as good as with vinegar.

Thanks guys! I plan on following the easy extraction guide in the tek, don't plan on taking any short cuts. I just have two roommates that are kinda "uptight" and complain every time I'm trying to do a boil. But Im going to try soaking in acidic water for a week ( already have it started), then i will filter out plant matter, and follow the tek as is. Thanks for the help! Ill post the results, in about a week or so.
