Basification alternatives to NaOH??

Migrated topic.

Hey all. i'm having somewhat of a difficult time location pure, 100%, unadulterated NaOH. All i can find between the grocery store and home cheapo, etc. is a mixture of potassium hydroxide and sodium something or other:? . it doesn't matter... What I am inquiring about is whether or not anyone has any basification agents that are non-toxic and relatively simple to acquire that he or she could suggest as an alternative... I know there are many many options for at least somewhat safe acidification agents, so come on, friends, let's brainstorm!!! thank you all in advance.

Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) should be available at your local aquarium, but i'm not sure how cost efficient it would be.

Don't be too afraid to approach your local fine-chemical supplier.
I'm waiting on 1kg of fumaric acid for AU$46. No questions asked
It's not like your ordering DMT

Yes ! Hydro shop pH UP (strong liquid solution of KOH) will work, and just like with other strong bases - you only need a puny amount to raise pH to 11.5 !~

Come to think about it, with potential hardware store heat-score factors and all, why don't we all use liquid KOH..? Is it just due to cost..?

if you got a Lowe's nearby, they carry the roebic drain opener (granulated 100% pure sodium hydroxide.) they only had one size (900+ grams) for $7.99

Coschi you fiend, I hope you are not contemplating human trials Strassman style? If you are you really should try to get some syringe filters, they hook up to the luer lock and filter down enough to exclude bacteria. You don't want foreign particles or bacteria getting where they shouldn't.
Nice purchace BTW.
