So this guy I know, he's a bit of a wild one and likes to do some funny things with drain cleaner and bits of bark. He says he has tried Noman's tek, and a couple of different variations on it, heating naptha etc, with fairly positive results (0.8% maybe), but was wondering if maybe a d-limonene tek would be best for getting all the goodies from the bark?

What is the general consensus on the best tek?
 
D-limo pulls more alcaloids. So an A/B with d-limo or vegetal oil is the best apporach yield wise.
Try BLAB or soemthing similar (A/B-vege oil).

I am trying to work out that myself.

I myself was very tempted by the BLAB tek until I found out that the reason for the high yields was that the end product wasn't the purest. What you get is a yellow coloured end product which contains the so named 'Jungle Juice', which is something u dont really want.

Later today or tomorrow, I am going to press ahead with the Lextek A/B, but taking half of the product and doing an air evap and doing the freeze evap with the rest. It is uncomforting that nobody else seems to be talking much about this tek but for my money, it is a combination of being the best written and it is also simple enough.
 
Why would one not want the fullrange(jungle) stuff that the blab pulls?? What is it that puts you off? I quite like it, . If you don't want the fullrange then one can easily separate the "white"dmt from the "yellow" dmt.
Also bob, I've Freebased some nice sparkly xtals from the blab tek.

Maybe you should give it a try somtime, you might like what you find:)

Methinks most members use a bit of all the teks, tweaking it here and there till they find what works for them.

All of the above :d in this order:

1. Yield
2. "purity" (not really put off by full range stuff, it can be freebased after all can't it?)
3. Easiness...

My friend got 1.5g out of 200g bark, so that's 0.75%, which isn't bad is it? He says STB is easy as pie and was keen to see the results of various teks. 1%+ would be nice though.
 
Most of the recommended teks in wiki and mentioned in FAQ can yield you 1+% with good bark, if done thoroughly.

Usually choice of teks is more related to availability of chemicals in one's area, as well as general preference of which tek one feel most easy to visualize when reading.

Just get mimosa from a reputed supplier, check the supplier section and then remember the usual tips that apply to extractions: Powdering material, doing at least 3 better even 4 acid boils in a/bs, enough base specially STBs and when using naphtha, using enough solvent per pull, doing a few thorough mixing cycles before pulling, pre-evaporating if freezing, doing 3 salting pulls on solvent if salting, reusing solvent and/or evapping till the end towards the end to retrieve final alkaloids, doing at least 5 pulls if with naphtha/hexane/etc and making last pulls warm and long for a couple of days and evapping/salting separately and if significant amount is still crashing out, keep extracting,, etc)
 
So my friend was having a look at the yields thread and saw that, actually, 0.8% isn't such a bad outcome! He also got some orange oil stuff - DMT oxide or NMT? Which he infused with some high grade cannabis,and seems to potentiate low dose enhanced leaf to near breakthrough levels! Scary stuff lol. He is still keen to milk that extra 0.2% if he can...
 
End basically broke down the whole extraction process, so there is really not much I can add but speaking strictly yield I believe Q2121's TEK has the biggest yield on average. Is it all DMT ? Probably not. Does it matter ? Probably not.
 
Materials aren't a problem, NaOH is easily attainable, as is the lighter fluid... 1.26% is an awesome yield! Jealous!
