I was wondering what extrations people have tried and what opinions they have about them. What is the extraction you have found most rewarding and why? Quality of product, easy of use, time involved etc. SWIM is attempting the QT's extraction for students and it seems to be going alright, although it will be sometime before the yield. So what's your opinion?

You should check out marsofold's tek it is easier and doesn't take near as long as QT's tek.Swims last extraction took a day and he had nice white crystals sitting in the freezer when he woke up the next morning.So my opinion is QT's tek is out of date and Erowid should take it down.People are going through long drawn out processes that are not necessary.Well good luck in your adventures.Peace. 8)

I would suggest elf harvest it's a version of QT's but you'll have nice crystal and no loss of yeilds by the end of the day

So swim tried the elf harvest tek, with 26 grams Mimosa Hostilis, recieved a yeild of 33 mg of pure crystal, with maybe 5-10 mg gunky crystal (a little of the non-clear napatha made it in). Pure crystal was tried and found to be Excellent javascript:emoticon('') Very Happy Simply Amazing. A couple of quick questions for those more knowledgable, does this seem like a good yeild? QT puts the yeild at 275mg for 30 g, swim was obviosly no where near this mark. What should be done with the gunky crystals, as of right now swim is just going to toss them(worried about lye being in them), maybe a recrystalization is in order? SWIM still has the QT tek a brewing, but it will be a while yet before I can compare the yeild.

well the gunky crystals are still fine to use.You can place more naptha on the solution, you'll get about 3 pulls out of each extraction.You can get better crystals by redissolving the orange/red crystals in naptha and let the crap settle at the bottom pour off the clear naptha evaporate and that should do it. You can tell when it's going to turn out that way by the color of the naptha collected.You really don't have to worry about lye (unless you plan on snorting it) because it burns at a MUCH higher temperature then DMT but If your really worried about it you can do the ammonia wash as stated in the marsofold's tek and that should take any left in it out with a small loss of DMT.

This is my first post, as I am new here, so hi everyone. This tek was worked out by a friend of mine at edot, hence the name. I am very happy with swim's yields. The quality of the spice is excellent and the yield much higher and the time shorter than most other teks swim has tried. He generally recrystalizes once, using a tek I will post soon, if I don't find it already here, and after the re-x, does the ammonia wash. OK here's how swim does it inabout 7 hours.we will be doing a 375 gram MHRB extraction here.(which should yield between 3 or 4 grams of spice. 1)chop up the rootbark using a paper guillotine to save time- about 15 minutes 2) pulverize it with a blender bit by bit - about15-20 minutes depending on your blender. While youre doing this you are preheating your crockpot with 2 and a half litres of water(using distilled water is just a way to spend more money,I always use tap water and get good results).So we just spent about half an hour and our water is already hot and our rootbark is already in powder form.before adding the powdered rootbark to the water add vinegar and stir and check PH with digital PH meter it should go as far down as about 3.if it is higher add some more vinegar,stir it up real good and re-check PH.When your PH is around 3 add the rootbark powder and stir the shit out of it.Let it simmer for three hours stirring the shit out of it often.When two and a half hours have passed stop stirring to let the guck settle to the bottom. with the chopping and grinding and simmering we are now at 3 and a half hours.pour the liquid through a cheese cloth into a wide mouthed stainless steel or glass(punch bowl will work) type of container.close up the cloth over the plant matter and sqweeze the shit out of it to get all the juice out.It's very hot so wear dishwashing gloves.whet you feel it too hot even with gloves pass your hands with gloves under running cold water and repeat the sqweezing till it's almost a dry pulp.this takes about 5 minutes.you now have a bowl full of a purplish reddish liquid that looks like cheap red wine.add slowly a saturated solution of lye(NaOH,sodium hydroxide,caustic soda) before I go on I would just like to say that you don't need to filter too much cause your non-polar solvent(naptha) will float anyway and the crud will stay on the bottom.So add the lye very slowly while stirring and check PH add a bit more and check PH it will first turn kind od grey and then black.You wanna get the PH as far up as 13-13.5 not 9-10 like the other teks say.with a PH this high you will get all the DMT and will hardly get emulsions.Once you get the PH to 13.5 you are ready to start pulling DMT freebase with you naptha. I forgot to say that after you emptied the crockpot,wash it and preheat water in it while you are doing the basification .This will be the hot water bath for your extraction bottle.and also in a seperate bottle you should have been heating your naptha almost to boiling point in a water bath as well under fume hut preferably don't smoke.For your extraction bottle try to get a wine bottle that has a long neck.Fill the wine bottle to the bottom of the neck,leave the neck to top off with HOT naptha.About 4 hours went by and we are ready to do our first pull.Make sure that you had the bottle of black liquid in the crockpot hot water and the naptha is HOT.fill the rest of the boittle with the hot naptha and put the cork or screw-on cap and up-end it don't shake for a full 5 minutes.you will see emulsions,but by putting the bottle in the hot water bath and letting it sit your layers should seperate nicely in less that ten minutes.When the layers are seperated nicely use a turkey baster to siphon off the naptha.be carefull not to suck up any of the black liquid,and put in a mason jar.repeat this with the same liquid two more times,and combine all the naptha pulls in the mason jar.You only used part of what you had in the bowl so do this untill you have no more left.In other words your wine bottle only hols a litre and you had twoand a half plus the vinegar plus the lye solution so you shoul have close to three litres of black juice.that means you do the wine bottle thing three times doing three pulls on each one.Leave your mason jar with all the pulls at room temperature with the lid open to evap some of it untill you see it getting cloudy.place it under fume hut and place a fan to get it to evap faster.Once it's cloudy put the lid on the mason jar and put it in the freezer.In two hours you should have most of the DMT pprecipitated out sittingon the bottom.when the naptha goes clear again most of the spice is out.Pour it through a coffee filter and save the naptha in another mason jar.pour chilled ammonia 15-20 ml/gram of spice thru the filter after all the naptha has evaped and the xtals are dry.empty the coffee filter on a plate and spread out the spice to dry it faster and you now have smokable DMT.it will be slightly yellowish so now if you want you can recrystalize using fresh naptha.I'm tired so recrystalization specifics will be posted tommorrow or another day.good luck and see you in hyperspace at the dome on full moons. Marsofold's TEK (4/3/2006) How to easily make DMT: ======================= Break 1-Pound of Mimosa Hostilis rootbark into 1" pieces using new heavy-duty wirecutters, then grind it all up in a glass-topped blender, a little at a time. ------------------------------------ Polar Extraction: Premix in an empty 1-Gallon plastic jug: 1-Quart White Vinegar & 3-Quarts Water. Put the ground up Mimosa in a 3-Liter crockpot, then fill it with the water-vinegar solution. Stir well and turn it on "high". After 2 hours, remove the crockpot ceramic liner, hold the lid on slightly offset, and pour off most of the liquid into a 1-gallon wide-mouthed glass or stainless container.Add the remaining water-vinegar solution to the crockpot again. Stir well and turn it on "high". After 2 hours, remove the crockpot ceramic liner, hold the lid on slightly offset, and pour off all of the liquid into the same container again. Discard the rootbark fiber and save the two combined extractions in the 1-gallon container. Allow the vegetable particles in the extraction in the 1-gallon container to settle to the bottom overnight. Then pour off the liquid into an empty 1-Gallon glass wine jug, being careful not to pour off any of the vegetable sludge at the bottom. Discard the sludge and keep the contents of the wine jug. ------------------------------------ Basification: Premix a solution of: 5 heaping Tablespoons (70grams) of Lye (Lowes Hardware, item# 146450 "Roebic Crystal Drain Opener") SLOWLY added to 1-Pint of warm water. Stir well. Slowly add this solution to the wine jug,then cap the jug. Gently tilt the wine jug back and forth for 1 full minute to mix. ------------------------------------ Nonpolar Extraction: Add 275ml of (Ace Hardware) VM&P Naptha to the wine jug. Add exactly enough warm water to the jug to raise the liquid level to an inch below the top. Cap the jug. Gently tilt the wine jug slowly back and forth for 5 full minutes to mix the contents. Allow the jug to sit undisturbed on a table for at least 3 hours. There should now be two layers visible in the jug, a lower dark one and a smaller clear one on top filling the neck of the jug. Use a glass turkey baster to suck up the top clear layer into a large glass baking pan. Be very careful NOT to suck up any of the lower brown foam/black liquid layer. ------------------------------------- Freeze-precipitation: Cover the glass baking pan with plastic wrap and place it in a FREEZER for 3 days to precipitate the DMT crystals. Remove the pan from the freezer and quickly lift the plastic wrap from a corner of the pan. Tilt the pan and slowly pour off all of the naptha through the exposed corner, being careful not to dislodge the crystals stuck to the bottom of the pan. Re-seal the corner of the pan by stretching the plastic wrap back over it. Allow several hours for the pan to reach room temperature, then remove all of the plastic wrap. Allow the crystals in the pan to completely dry out overnight in a cool place. Then use a pair of single-edged razor blades to scrape up the impure DMT crystals. ------------------------------------- Ammonia Wash: Prepare a filter setup by placing a funnel into a quart jar and putting a small coffee filter paper into the funnel. Place the impure DMT crystals into the filter paper. Chill a bottle of NON-SOAPY clear Ammonium Hydroxide (Ace Hardware Janitorial Strength Ammonia) in a refrigerator. Slowly pour 35ml of the cold ammonia over the crystals (still in the filter paper) to wash them. Remove the filter paper from the funnel, spread it out flat and allow the crystals to COMPLETELY dry out. You will now have 2-1/2 grams of white crystal DMT. Mix it with some dried parsley and smoke a little in your favorite pipe!

Try crushing a 1000mg vitamin C tablet for each qt. of H2O you use,rather than vinegar. It seems to give me much better results EVERY time.

You use VitaminC Tablets? as in the ones with orange flavour from a pharmacy? If it works great,but I use 100% pure ascorbic acid (vitaminC) used in canning fruits and making marmalades.I fram per litre of water.I don't know why some go through the trouble of getting distilled water,tap water works just fine.

Yeah,regular store brand vitamin c tabs,1000 mg.I crush it into as fine a powder I can prior,and then add it to the dH2O. I don't know why I use distilled(probably following a tek somewhere..),I guess it's just habit. It's not breaking the bank to buy it so...why not?

Marsofold's uses 1 pound (453 grams) of MHRB and yields 2.5 grams of spice. DrIraZ's 7 hour tek uses 375 grams of MHRB and claims a 3 to 4 gram yield can this be correct? swim wants to do a MHRB extraction. His first. How long does marsofold's take all together? how does vinegar (and ascorbic acid for that matter) compare to stronger acids like hydrochloric? Many of the teks call for hydrochloric (muriatic). Any thoughts on Hexane vs. naptha? Or for that matter, lab grade NaOH vs. store bought lye, and lab grade ammonia vs. Ace hardware brand? In marsofold's, what temp (it just says 1/2 hour) is the ideal temp (measured) for the crock pot/vinegar? I love the idea of a 7 hour tek. Am I correct that as long as the acid is PH 3 to 4 and the base is PH 13 or 13.5 it's hard to go wrong with any of the teks? swim curently has 3oz of MHRB. Looks like he'll need more. Sorry for all the questions but swim wants to get it right.

You can get some worth doses out of that. if youve never experienced, swim suggest you use what you got for now. Crokpot or big pot, clear 750ml liqour bottle , vinegar , lab grade lye is fine. hexane is better for rextalizing and pulls swim believes but has no experience. Just naptha (wich works good) and Xylene (wich got a good bit more out after plus an unown molecule from MHRB (jungle spice or Yuremene, dunno) crazy shit. But it sounds like you got it down man,you cant go worng.Just dont spill!!!!,that the noobs alwyas big mistake. Get better everytime. Im still scared

Swim is no good at math and recalculating the quantities of A, B, naptha etc to work with 3 ounces. Thinks he'll acquire a full 375 grams. Do the 7 hour using the chemicals/brands specified by Marsofold. 4, 3, even 2 grams is quite a bit and more than he has now i.e. none at all. Swim has some experience with Meow but not N,N and can hardly wait to try it. [/u]
