Bitcoin at risk of network attack, say researchers

The Bitcoin virtual currency is vulnerable to a 'selfish' attack that would let someone take control of the digital cash system, warn researchers.

Is this true? Or as I suspect a media ploy to subvert Bitcoins?

I love Bitcoins, for obvious reasons and would hate for them to be "killed".

Bitcoin mining network vulnerability 'not a big deal'

A paper released yesterday suggested a major bitcoin vulnerability, but has been quick to draw dismissal from developers.

seems the dangers were overblown.

Anyways even in the case bitcoin was not the final answer for cryptocurrency and had a big flaw, it definitely has already served it`s purpose by bringing awareness to the general crowd about the possibility of such currencies, and a new more secure cryptocurrency will for sure come out soon enough, if it hasnt yet.
