I dont know if your in the UK or not but where I am if I order a book that the library doesnt have they will buy it, was great when I was homeless, oh I fancy that and they would buy it for me! :)

I have to 1 million percent back up Robert Anton Wilson that has been brought up a lot in this thread. I feel like he has been one of the best finds I will ever have and his model agnosticism really helps to deal with a lot of the murky waters that psychedelics can bring us to.

Besides his great non-fiction which Prometheus Rising, Quantum Psychology and the first Cosmic Trigger being my favorites and most useful to me, I adore all of his fiction. The historical Illuminatus triology was re-printed by New Falcon and is a great read. Much more linear than the original Illuminatus and Shrodinger's cat (not that I don't love those). The first one is called "The Earth Will Shake".

Just read my first Rudy Rucker "Mathematicians in Love" very nice SF. I am hoping I have found myself a new PKD type to devour.
 
zubidlo just remembered one book he read many years ago. zubidlo thinks it could be interesting read for you nexians because you like psychedelics, enlightenment and stuff. This book occupies zubidlo's TOP 100 chart at high position :d

It's a story of time travel, where our hero experiences ultimate psychedelic trip: re-living his life again and again...

Graham Hancock's Entangled

I've only got two chapters left. This book has kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time !!!! Its very well written. Its 435pgs long, but it goes by fast.

Its about two girls from different time periods (the stone age and modern times), that are entangled together thru the spirit relm, by eating mushrooms and drinking aya.
Their "task" is to defeat Sulpa, the eater of souls...

There are cliff hangers at the end of EVERY chapter, the chapters are short and also flip-flop back and fourth between time periods.

I swear its like watching a movie in your head! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

I mentioned this book to house in chat and he suggested I put it in the book thread. Good idea!

Tom Brown Jr claims to have learned tracking and survival along with spirituality from an old native american in his childhood. Some of his stories are a bit hard to believe, but its an interesting read


I think the one I read was "the tracker" but it was a long time ago and I cant remember well.

Right now I'm reading "becoming animal" which is amazingly good so far. Sometimes the guy reiterates things a bit too much for my liking, but hey, thats what writers do!

I would second Borges. He puts into words the thoughts I struggle to express about the nature of reality and time.

I would urge everyone to go out and buy If this is a man/The Truce by Primo Levi. They are two separate books but are best read as one and most editions have them as one.

Easy to read and can be finished reasonably quickly. If this is a man is an account of how he survived Auschwitz, and The truce talks about his journey home to Italy (which took 6 months).

I think that book changed my life, it certainly redefined my view on personal suffering and gratitude.

Thanks for the review! I was thinking about ordering this soon after i finish a few more books..

its interesting, a few months ago i remember listening to a talk he gave where he mentioned that he had a mental/visual download of the whole story unfolding, during one of his ayahuasca trips in the amazon..and that he was compelled to put it to paper :d

^^Interesting enough, I found a copy of Winnie the Pooh at my house a few days ago from 1938 and began reading it, truly loving it, I can read about quantum physics but Pooh can still throw me for a loop!

Thank you! I am just getting hip to books being online. I've always preferred to read out of a book instead of a screen.
 
Enders Game by Orson Scott Card

This is also a dual version of it available called Enders War that has part 2 of the series, Speaker for the Dead included.

This series has been a huge inspiration for me growing up. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
