it will mess it up... some of that IPA will go to the water layer and hold your alkaloids..
you might be able to separate them by mixing with pure water and throwing the water out a few times, as each wash will make the water get some of the IPA.. I would wait for someone to confirm if what im saying is correct, though..
maybe keep trying to find some other good solvent in the meanwhile
btw are you sure there is nothing else appart from heptane and isopropanol?
What about bestine? That MSDS doesn't indicate that the brake cleaner is made only of heptane and IPA, it just only declares those two ingredients. It says 60-100% is heptane and 1-5% is IPA. So it might be just those two, but it could also be 60% heptane, 1% IPA, and the remaining 39% unknowns.
